"Goodbyes."

Untitled.jpg

Today's review will be a bit shorter, because last night I only managed 2 episodes. They had quite the important stuff though, so I will not wait to write it down. It was 2 episodes full of Goodbyes.

So what is going on right now?

🔷

Leanne Demerest decided to leave her teenager "husband". Yes, that's right. And she didn't have the decency to take any responsibility for her actions. She blamed Kevin for everything and the rest of the blame was for his mother. Who did absolutely nothing, but try to make her feel comfortable and accepted. Leanne is doing this once again as some sort of emotional blackmail of course, she wants Kevin to beg her to stay. But before that she wants to have some fun with Jason, while she and Kevin are broken up. Ugh, you are pregnant, you piece of sh-t... CONTROL your libido and come to your senses!

🔷

And that takes us to Goodbye number 2 - Jason disappointed me... He picked the moment when Dorian is at her most vulnerable - the moment when she felt like her whole life is broken in pieces... to DUMP HER. Dorian begged him for another chance, but he wanted to take the band-aid fast and cold. He was DONE with her and wished her well. You can do better, Dorian. I like Jason, yes, I love to see his development, but he's still a young man, find yourself a real grown-up, Dorian.

🔷

The new leading suspect for Carlo Hesser's murder is Sarah Buchanan. They caught her just as she was trying to get rid of the gun. Bo blamed Cassie for all of this... and that brings us to Goodbye number 3. Cassie FINALLY stood up for herself and put Bo in his place. You could feel the hurt and the disappointment. I can't believe I used to root for this couple just months ago. They are almost enemies now.

🔷

Max couldn't contain his jealousy, so he basically kidnapped Blair from her bed at Asa's manor. Asa vowed to get Blair back as soon as possible and blamed Max for taking advantage of her when she "didn't know where she was"...  And yes, Blair appeared to be really out of it... but was she? She came to her feet as soon as Asa was not watching. Mere minutes ago she was barely opening her eyes, LOL. Victoria must have been right.

🔷

Maggie and Andrew fought about Sarah's arrest. Andrew was repeating his stupidity how Sarah just isn't capable of murder, because SHE IS SARAH - a blue-eyed angel. But then Maggie corrected him - everyone is capable of murder if the right circumstances come about. I can't believe that the Reverend is so naive. Is this man a virgin or something? Maggie was right - one of the most brutal killers have appeared saintly and innocent to their relatives and neighbors. Not all killers look like Charles Manson. Some look like... Sarah Buchanan... who Alex described as - a pill popping bimbo, just as she was leaving the jail as a free woman. Oh, yeah... Alex is back, baby!

Overall - 10 out of 10!

Clip of the day - Bo and Cassie. The sad ruins of a love story.

Thanks @Maxim

You can tell we're meant to take Cassie seriously now because they've straightened her hair.

They really did seem to reset Cassie's history with Laura in the part. She'd had a very tumultuous marriage with Rob Coronal, but she had known what it felt like to be loved by him.

As I recall the entire year of 2003 is on youtube, I think uploaded 2 or 3 times by different uploaders. If they have missed a certain episode, tell me the date and I'll search in my collection. I should have full 2003, even though I haven't checked the folders.

I can’t seem to find the October 31 episode anywhere

"Ooops, she started walking again."

Untitled.jpg

After a little pause (weekend husband stuff), I'm back in Llanview.

So what is going on right now?

🔷

Let me start with the big stuff. Blair apologized to Dorian and gave her... her newspaper back. She was expecting a hug from her aunt, but got a nasty threat instead. Dorian vowed to become the legal guardian of Agatha and make sure Blair never comes close to her mother again. She accused her of neglecting Addie and not providing her with proper care. The war of the Cramer women is going into second phase.

🔷

Renee got a great divorce settlement - "The Buchanan Palace" hotel! Asa told her sarcastically that she could even go back to her previous profession and turn the hotel into a whore-house if she wanted to. Ah, you'll regret saying this, Asa.

🔷

The boring "who killed Carlo" storyline continues to drag. Sarah was released on bail and then she and Bo broke into Alex's apartment trying to find evidence. Sarah discovered the "Murder of Scarecrow" cassette tape recording. I have a hunch this tape will help reveal who killed Carlo. Oh and let's not forget - we got a soapy twist, when the "invalid" (who I was expecting is faking her paralysis) Julia Medina... started walking. She not only can walk... she can squat!

🔷

Tina and Cain had their usual in-fantasy conversations that are starting to drag too... I'm so not buying this "love affair". Their biggest adversary is of course, Alex Olanov, who just recently decided she needs to marry the mayor in order to become a high-society woman. At least Alex is entertaining. Tina and Cain are unbearable at this point. I preferred her with Cord, even though he was a chauvinist. Again, Tina has seized having kids and is acting like an irresponsible early 20s single woman. The change was too rush in my opinion. She didn't even mourn Cord... at all before getting in bed with Rogan.

🔷

Blair agreed to be with Max when he visits his friend Joe in Texas. When Asa found out that she did this... he activated all of his connections in Ohio. He even called in a favor so that Blair could become a legal guardian of her mother. He wants to buy Blair off, just so that Max can't have her. So... I assume the battle for who will be Agatha's guardian begins.

🔷

Overall - 8 out of 10! - because the Carlo Hesser murder mystery is really really annoying at this point and I want it to end ASAP. It's 2 months now and every single episode it's the same cartoon-network Scooby-Doo who's the killer stuff. We don't care at this point. Carlo was not the most sympathetic character, so I really don't need 40+ episodes of who killed him. The first 50 percent of this storyline was great, but then when every week they had another person in jail, it became a drag.

Clip of the day - Blair slaps Dorian! The SECOND phase of the war is ON!

Hahahah. I'm mourning the loss of the curls. 😁

Thanks @Maxim . I had forgotten about the brief stuff with Alex and Herb. I know someone ages ago may have posted Tony Call's comments about this period or his exit but I don't know where they'd be. I think we're entering the period where they don't quite know where to take Alex after Carlo's sudden murder.

That was a good clip with Blair and Dorian. Both giving as good as they got. Mia really could play anything and had such a natural soap opera flair.

Now I have a mental image of Julia Medina popping a squat.

A very early Erika Slezak audio as Viki.

Thank you. I've always been amazed how Viki is always Viki... At every stage of the show. I don't know how to describe it... I've often found younger versions of the same characters/actors to sound so different... Almost like different people. But every time I stumble across something with Viki... She is undeniably Viki. You can't forget that voice.

It's uncanny. I suppose it's the benefit of stage training (and not smoking).

"The end of Viki and Clint?"

🔷

I'm back... sadly for the past few days my work schedule has made it impossible to watch more than 1 episode a day. And I wanted to have at least 2-3 new ones so I can write my review. All work and no OLTL makes Maxim a dull boy!

So what is going on right now?

🔷

There is something brewing in Llanfair. Victoria and Clint's disagreements about their son Kevin are just a facade for something deeper. The arrival of the mysterious Sloan Carpenter has turned Victoria into... this giddy, always laughing, full of excitement... girl... almost. She looks 20 years younger when she speaks to him, her whole demeanor is different. This man really pulls something fresh out of her. In contrast to the more passive (at this time) and mild Clint... Sloan is a stern, more intimidating type of man. Clint saw his wife having a great time with Sloan and observed in confusion. Then as soon as Viki left the room, the mood shifted to a nuance of concealed contempt. Sloan and Clint started butting heads on different topics and positions in life. Something wicked this way comes!

🔷

The Sarah Buchanan show is close to ruining the fun for me. She traveled to see her jailer who ended up being this bizarre, bad-acting boring man that seems desperately in love with her. B-O-R-I-N-G. I can't... I really can't stand this bish and her issues. She eats up airtime and I want her gone asap. Sorry for my directness. We didn't need her at all. I have no idea why they brought her back, because anything connected to her has flopped immensely. In a way, this storyline makes Bo look and act like a complete idiot. He was sooo "in love" with Cassie and they had this great story... only for him to dump her in a few weeks after Sarah came back. Made no sense to me. Now from a kind of... sympathetic character... Bo has turned into a villain for me. I won't forgive how he broke-up with Cassie over the f-cking PHONE.

🔷

Blair and Max went to help Joe in Texas. Joe is yet another person who didn't like Blair. He sensed she has some kind of darkness coming out of her and tried to warn Max about it. They are painting Blair as this fatal woman that ruins men and people's lives... and I'm kinda living for it. John Steinbeck's Cathy Ames with a dash of empathy. At Joe's place... one thing led to another and all of a sudden Blair was having a bubble bath in front of Max who was standing at the other side of the window. Again... similar to how @DRW50 put it about the Viki-Blair scene from couple of days ago -  this time... you aren't sure if Blair is not purposely trying to seduce Max or... if Max is just... a creep.

🔷

Dorian had a session with the hot psychiatrist that lead her to a realization (with this psychiatrist... I would have one too) - all of her life she was doing bad things and trying to control people... as a defense mechanism from the deeply rooted childhood trauma of getting bullied and terrorized by her sister. It really makes sense. I like how interested in Dorian... the new writers are. 1991-1992 so far has been very Dorian Lord-heavy, at times you could say... "The Dorian Lord Show" which is something I didn't expect. On the other hand... I haven't seen much character growth or interesting moments with Victoria (other than constantly losing people, suffering and giving people advice). So I'm happy that they are giving Viki HER OWN leading storyline now with Sloan. It was about time.

Overall - 7 out of 10 - We need Sarah OFF immediately. The character is dragging the entire show in my opinion.

Clip of the day - Dorian with the hot psychiatrist. A man that knows just how to cure your trauma.

Thanks @Maxim

Supposedly there were backstage issues with Sarah so that may also be why the material is a mess.

I'd never watched that Dorian scene. Dorian in therapy is a no-brainer but not that common. It's very Dorian that the therapy does not really help her but leads her to redirect her obsessions and anger to another target. Doug Marland therapy this ain't.

I love how Elaine Princi played that last moment. So big but also fitting.

I am finally getting back to October '91 and going straight through, so I'll be behind whatever else is being discussed here but will likely offer my tedious meanderings if they still appeal to people.
