Members EricMontreal22 Posted yesterday at 12:52 AM Members Share Posted yesterday at 12:52 AM Had no idea there was a rewatch podcast (I'm probably not up for following it regularly lol but nice to know)... But that was a really great interview! interesting that she auditioned first for Kelsey. I must have started watching AMC in 1991 JUST after Robin Christopher left (or maybe she was still on but was about to leave and made no impression.) So Carrie was Skye for me and I had no problem adjusting to her or anything. Funny to think that she was only on just over a year as I remember her stuff so clearly (and yes, her best storyline was the "three witches/weird sisters" story where Skye, Janet and Erica were forced to team up to bring down Jonathan--the stuff with his "body" Marian helping him escape, etc. I remember finding it all a lot of fun. Skye's involvement in the pretty hated Maddie storyline on the other hand... I think it was. Oh even more so, if that's possible. No wonder people started to think enough is enough.
Members DRW50 Posted yesterday at 12:58 AM Members Share Posted yesterday at 12:58 AM (edited) Carrie was the first Skye I ever saw. She got a lot of viewer hate, not helped by poor story choices (being comatose - again! - for months, the Maddie stuff, etc.) but I thought she was a good actress, vulnerable, believable, and I actually did think she had chemistry with John Callahan. I thought her goodbye with Stuart after Adam disowned her was very moving and another reminder of how good David Canary was in those roles for so long. One of the few saving graces of 1997 was that some inappropriate and gross storylines all had strong conclusions (even the Tanner story had some knockout performances from Kelly Ripa that I never knew she had in her). I'm sorry that I never saw Robin as Skye first, because what I did see of her elsewhere on ABC Daytime really did not flatter her, but as I didn't, it's still Carrie for me. Members EricMontreal22 Posted yesterday at 12:59 AM Members Share Posted yesterday at 12:59 AM Oh the stuff with Kendall (they met in prison--when Kendall was in there for perjury because of course someone in jail for perjury would be with someone in jail for murder Please register in order to view this content ) wasn't connected. This is what the PineValleyBulletin says: 1995: Janet was determined to win custody of Amanda. She believed her chances were compromised as a result of Trevor and Dixie Martin’s smear campaign. She hired an actor named James to impersonate Dixie's late brother, Janet’s first victim Will . At trial, James arrived and revealed Janet’s deceptions. Trevor won full custody of Amanda. Janet was determined to make everyone pay for her loosing her child. On the day of Trevor and Laurel’s wedding, she stormed the chapel with a bomb. Only, Amanda had already arrived and was standing with Laurel. Not wanting to hurt her daughter, Janet ran into the street with the bomb. Before she could disarm it, she was struck down by lightning. (This led to Pierce Riley/Laura stuff under Corley and Broderick.)
Members DRW50 Posted yesterday at 01:03 AM Members Share Posted yesterday at 01:03 AM (edited) Oh right. Thank you. I had forgotten that she would hate Dixie because Dixie went after her tooth and nail for Will's murder. I know some were always annoyed by that, as Will was evil by the end of his life, but it's believable enough that Dixie would remember the good in her brother. I guess Del and Kendall was too thin of a reason. That whole story was probably just a reason to keep Erica and Kendall from sharing scenes anyway. Members Khan Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM Members Share Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM IDK why, but reading that cracked me up, lol. I agree. I remember Megan McTavish's first stint becoming just one stupid, silly gimmick after another. It was kind of like Bob Guza's work on GH in that she had the good fortune to be surrounded by breakdown and script writers who could make the day-to-day stuff work, even if the stories themselves were idiotic.
Members alwaysAMC Posted yesterday at 03:30 AM Members Share Posted yesterday at 03:30 AM Carrie was my Skye too, and oh how I loved that Dr. Kinder storyline with Erica/Janet/Skye. It was a little campy, but at my age, I enjoyed it. I also had a young crush on the actor playing Dr. Kinder too haha.
Members EricMontreal22
I think it was just on the right side of the kind of camp that AMC can pull off--not quite going over the edge.
