Guza is calculating - not an idiot. Attention spans of current viewers are short at best. It's only those of us who have long memories or feel passionate enough about characters that hold on.

Does baby Lila connect Sam and Sonny…… no

There are many who have no interest in Liason and have always felt Jake was a mistake. Not everyone supported the S.o.S nor it's outcome. This is a soap opera character, not real life. Jake might never be forgotten but his significance will diminish quickly once Sam and Jason move on with their own family, and after Aiden is known to be Lucky's son. That's what Guza is counting on and I truly don't believe it a bad gamble.

I think Baby Lila connects Sonny/Sam. Maybe not all the time. Maybe it's not mentioned. But that connection is there, and always will be. They'll always have a semi-relationship, in which they will both remember the loss of their child. And though they're not close anymore, they did share a child that still meant a lot to Sam, and probably Sonny.

I think the difference is that Jake was alive. He wasn't stillborn, but instead nearly 3 years old. And the difference is that Liz started to raise him and knew him in and out. He had likes, dislikes, things that hurt him, and made him happy. And Jason knew him somewhat. I think it's a difference.

I'm not saying he will be forgotten any more than Baby Lila, HOWEVER it's not going to be some big Liason connection as some have hypothesized. This is the last nail in the Liason coffin. While he won't be forgotten, his death is certainly not going to bring another bonding between Jason and Liz. Jake's death in essence severs their ties in a very tangible way and cleans up a mess started four summers ago.

I'm not saying this as a mother - if I was sharing my mother's perspective on this one it would be completely different. I'm saying this as a writer. Jake's death ties the last bow on an awkward and difficult parcel. Now Jason and Liz will go their merry ways without a physical connection popping up later in life demanding answers and mutual acknowledgement. Sucks that it's yet another Q that's biting the dust, but that can't be helped in the bid to make Sam alone the person in Jason's life to give him children and be his family.

IA with Remos. I think this will sever Jason and Liz. After this story has run its course, I dont see them all that connected even more and there probably wont be any close moments between them till next year on the annniversary of the death.

Speaking of which , with Jake's accident, Guza continues his goal to kill off yet another Quartermaine. He's completely decimated this family

I have a question. Since this was originally meant to be RH's exit storyline, what will happen to Liz? Will she leave the show and come back a few weeks later or will there be no onscreen exit? Basically will be see any onscreen implications of the offscrean drama?

I don't think so Cheap. From what I read, Liz was initially going to go crazy and land permenantly in Shady Brooke. Now with BH staying, I have heard some rumors that Liz could still lose it and go to Shady Brooke, but that it will be much more temporary.

On Ryan's Hope many years ago, Jill and Frank had a baby boy, Edmund, but they had to keep quiet about this because of Frank's political career (he had been married at the time of the conception). For a while Jill thought another man, Seneca, was the child's father, and even after she found out otherwise, she married him, and to all but Frank, Jill, Seneca, and Frank's family, Edmund was his biological son. Edmund was killed in an explosion before he was two years old, and the painful grieving process ended up reuniting Jill and Frank and also destroying Seneca (he always wanted a child of his own after this and went to desperate lengths at times).

I don't care about anyone in Liz/Lucky/Jason but I would have been interested in this type of story, possibly. Instead, the show decided Lucky was too good for Jake when the golden boy returned, and they also felt Jason was too good to be Jake's father, so the child had to be killed off as some grotesque ode to Jason's woe.
