I like Daryl a lot, but I thought he was going to buy it last year and be replaced by Merle. I think he's got maybe another year or two in him, but at this point it's inevitable that they're going to start killing more of the old guard.

A lot of people have been having that same feeling--Daryl seems like he doesn't have too much time left in him. As for killing the old guard, it better be inevitable. I don't know if most people watch for the zombies and to see people bitten, but any story is only as interesting as its characters, and if they start getting rid of the core people, there will be nothing left to draw in this viewer. Ultimately, I have to believe that it's who all this craziness happens to that attracts the viewers. I have a feeling they know that as well, that's why none of the really popular actors who are core have been killed/written off.

I think he's too popular as well. But do you really think they would kill off Rick? (Unless it happens in the comics, in which case, I don't wanna know!)

I don't know if I would count Shane, only because (other than the zombies) he was the main villain at that point and it felt like his story had really come to an end. I mean, there was no way to keep him around, unless he disappeared for a good long while and came back (which I presume Phillip will do at some point).

It depends on how much they deviate from the comic. I think Daryl is the main draw for many now so I think he'd survive over Rick.

In Shane's case, he lasted quite a bit longer on the show than he did in the comic. Beyond that, there was also the whole Frank Darabont issue (most of the actors who worked most often with Darabont pre-TWD are gone...the one left is Melissa McBride).

Speaking of McBride, there's a two-page interview with her in the new Sci-Fi Magazine (December issue).

    • Thanks for posting this, fascinating read. It's clear how ambivalent Wyndham is about Justine. IMO, it reads like she agrees that the end of the storyline was bad, but reading between the lines I think she thought she was doing good work for the meat of it....which was not the case. As bad as the writing for most of that story was, it was truly made worse by her embarrassing performance. After the story concluded she kept falling back into Justine ticks, when she wasn't phoning he scenes in. Not to play Freud, but was it to tr*ll her critics?

    • I love this more than any theory I've seen yet
    • I wonder what Dana and Hayley's first scene will be like. Dana has fear/contempt for Bill, but I can imagine Hayley being curious to meet her.
    • Daphne was just FANTASTIC today. I know people wanted histronics and it may still come but she was pitch perfect today. As much as I like Maurice she's gonna need someone just as strong now and it's just not him
    • Today's episode was one of my favorites so far! TT's Anita standing up to Dana was perfect. I was surprised with how restrained Dani was, in some scenes, I forgot she was there. The ending "Amazing Grace" montage was brilliant. I like how Vernon's reason complements Anita's emotion. DD was terrific portraying her mixed sense of betrayal and humiliation. I liked her comment about how she condescended to Dani after her breakup with Bill, unaware that she was also married to a cheater. I am going to miss MJ as Ted and I don't agree with the criticisms of his acting. His conduct on social media is a different story. I agree that BC's Martin has come into his own. He and MM have also discovered some chemistry which allows them portray a believable couple. Eva is the most empathetic character for me. Seeing get locked out of the apartment was heartbreaking. I also liked that the writing for Kat has been much more nuanced than one might have expected just weeks ago. I liked the expression on Kat's face at the end when she was embracing Nicole. Kat has probably never seen her calm, poised mother so upset. CM's face portrayed a sense of discomfort now that the carer/child roles have been somewhat reversed. I believe now more than ever that Kat is Ted and Dana's child. Eva is Ted and Nicole's child. Dana switched them as insurance - if Bill came after her to take or harm Eva, Dana would reveal that Eva was actually a Dupree, giving her some protection. She would also be secure in the fact that her birth daughter Kat was ensconced in the privilege and security of the Dupree family. The way Dana raised Eva - "weaponizing" her instead of nurturing her as a loving mother - also aligns with this theory.
    • @Paul Raven - thanks for reviewing the content for accuracy.  You know, the nice thing about AI is that you can teach it things, so I am having it review the classic AMC Tumblr to increase its accuracy.
