There are two recent unrelated yet simultaneous discussions on the BeyondTheGates thread about Tide and about soccer...

and that reminds me of the NFL Tide commercials featuring DAYS.
These commercials aired during Sunday Night Football on NBC in 2019.

When people replied to the Tide commercial tweets that they love Jarlena and DAYS and Tide, the Tide account tweeted to them that they'd receive a free bottle of Tide autographed by Deidre.

In my usual account on my most used video hosting site with the video title

DAYS 1-8-15 Will & Paul Sex

This is an edit I began when I was first teaching myself to edit & at that time I couldn't make it do what I wanted it to do. I pulled it up & finished it this morning.

https://www.tvinsider.com/1180503/denise-alexander-dead-general-hospital-lesley-webber/

Alexander made her soap opera debut as Lois Adams on The Clear Horizon in 1960, but her big break came in 1966 when she was cast as Susan Hunter Martin on Days of Our Lives while still attending college at UCLA. As Susan, Alexander played a host of dramatic tales, including murdering her husband David Martin (played by Clive Clerk) in May 1967 after the death of their son.

“She started out as the bad girl and was thrown out of boarding school for smoking and drinking,” recalled Alexander to We Love Soaps TV. “The character caught on and sparked something with the audience, and that is how Susan became an important part of the show. I was there for almost seven years…. I had such a wonderful time on Days. It was like going to camp every day for me. I loved the people, loved the show, and loved what I got to do. They loved the character and liked me as an actor and gave me lots of neat stuff to do. I didn’t even ask for a vacation for five years because if I worked 365 days a year, I thought I was great. It was a very good time in my life.”

In 1973, Alexander was in contract negotiations with Days when ABC offered significant perks to the actress to join General Hospital to play Dr. Lesley Williams. Though Alexander loved her time in Salem, she decided to leave. “It was [Days’ Executive Producer] Betty Corday who sent me to General Hospital,” Alexander told welovesoaps.net. “She said, ‘You must do this.’ So when I went to General Hospital..."

Of course I join in on wishing that Peacock & Corday & Sony would all together come to the conclusion that NOW would be a fine time to put some of these gems in the archive on full display!!! But, at the same time I'd like to give kudos to the fact that behind the scenes they've been doing the great work of preservation by taking tapes, etc. & converting them to modern digital formats. Besides the important fact of preserving them it means they are ready to go!

https://luminatedata.com/blog/streamings-unlikeliest-success-is-a-60-year-old-soap-opera/

Not really new information, but further articulates that Days is the most successful Peacock show in terms of viewing. Peacock obviously has a lot of problems, as it has yet to turn a profit for NBCU and while still growing it's subscription base, it's happening slower than other platforms. Honestly, if Peacock were to dump Days at this point (not that I think it will), I could see it moving to another streaming or broadcast service pretty easily.

A video clip of Roman & Marlena in bed, talking, just under 2 minutes.

About Denise Alexander dying.T he first soap story that I remember seeing from its beginning all the way through to its end was on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, circa Bill Bell edition. Denise played Susan Hunter. She was Julie Olsen's best friend until they fell out over, of all things, a boy, David Martin. First he was Julie's boyfriend but Tom & Alice, thinking he was too old for her, forbade them seeing each other. One night, upset by this, he got very drunk & he ran into Susan, who also was upset, from a fight with her parents & she was also very drunk, and, so, things happened, as they are wont to do. From that night of drunken sex Susan got pregnant, of course, since this is a soap. They all 3 decided that David & Susan would wed to give the child his name & then later, the plan was that they would divorce, but that never happened. Julie was pissed off, as you can imagine. The child was born & it was a boy, named Richard after Susan's father. One day David was supposed to be watching the infant but he looked away & poor baby Dickie fell off the swing & broke his neck. Every single time the camera would pan to that dam*ed swingset I would cry for poor little baby Dickie. Bill Bell swore he should never have killed that infant boy & he further swore he would never kill an infant again. Meanwhile here I am crying over that dam*ed swingset. Clearly this is a story I am never going to forget. Denise Alexander played Susan Hunter Martin & she went crazy & she shot & killed David Martin but Mickey Horton as her attorney, got her off on temporary insanity.

Susan & Julie went from being best friends to the bitterest of enemies.

GH, with a whole helluva lot of money got Denise to General Hospital on ABC, where she played Laura's mother, Lesley Webber. It was said at that time that she was the highest paid in daytime, ever.

Then much later, NBC tempted her to go to ANOTHER WORLD where she played Marissa Lasalle, who later was revealed to actually be Mary McKinnon, wife to Vince, mother to MJ, Kathleen, Ben & aunt to Jake. This did not go on as long as it might have because Denise grew very tired of the commute from west coast to east & back.

Denise was a particular favorite of mine & I am so sad that now she is gone.

@Jason47 For Your Information, generally.

I have just exchanged emails with the Paley Center. They got back to me within 24 hours!!

They have

However,

I have suggested to them that it is a clerical error Hart instead of Hunter but gave them the info on her years, her character name & that she did indeed marry David Martin. I referred her to imdb & wiki to double check me, should she wish to make a notation.

Now for the bad news:

So, that's a shame. If anyone is in the vicinity, you can view videos sitting in a cubicle. I did so when we lived in Brooklyn. Their hours: The Paley Center is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

    • Oh god I haven’t gotten to that episode yet, you have to be [!@#$%^&*].ing kidding me. I will say to my surprise, the Danny actor no longer bothers me. He has actually improved quite a bit.
    • I hear what you are saying, but I feel there is definitely an opportunity for improvement. If the set problem is to remain, then the whole focus has to change. Business has to take a back seat if there are no sets available to support story. As I have said before return to Jabot and have a number of characters working and interacting there. They seem super reluctant to do it but Victor needs to be a more supporting character.  Eric Braeden seems determined to carry on and that is of course admirable, but keeping Victor as this dominating force has been detrimental. Have a sweet reunion of Sharon and Nick and marry them off for good. Bring on Faith and I'd even have Adamson back as Noah at this point to support Nick/Sharon in a parenting role. They really need to bite the bullet and drop one of the following -Billy, Chelsea, Phyllis or make them recurring like Abby/Ashley with appearances or short term stories when appropriate. Free up some space for new or returning characters- Noah, Allie, Fen, Moses, even a recast Dylan.
    • Today was really boring. I get we needed to have Martin accepting Eva but man I needed some Leslie today. Anita being hung up on was intriguing though.
    • Yup, that's John Mahoney, a few months before the star-studded 1986 production of The House of Blue Leaves. Also, God bless TPTB for thinking that a circus storyline was gonna grab the hearts and attention of viewers.
    • I don't think we have. I suspect @Paul Raven could confirm it for sure.  ETA: off the top of my head, I counted 13 sets (counting the hotel room Doug/Vanessa made up in separate from the hotel room Ted is in unless it was refashioned).
    • Have we seen them? There’s a bit more variety than some of the other soaps but I feel like GH still has them beat. Right now everyone literally only eats at the country club or Orphy Genes. Jessica and Samantha look like twins.
    • Dante to Kristina: You turned out okay.

    • Am I misremembering or were they bragging about over 20 sets? Have we seen them all cause I feel like we haven’t and I’d like to see some more.
