Hey Toups!

Can you post "The Talk" daily nielsen ratings for a comparrison to ATWT ratings and how far they fell if at all after

the strong Monday Premiere? and can you post "the view" ratings to see how "the talk" steps up against them. I hear there the view had ratings

that week with 3.8 million on mon and I was wondering how there hh ratings stacked up against the soaps?!!!

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

Fearless Predictions

Y&R 3.5

B&B 2.3

GH 2.1

OLTL 1.9

Days 1.9

AMC 1.8

Demo (18-49)

Y&R 1.6

GH 1.3

OLTL 1.1

Days 1.0

B&B 1.0

AMC .9

Was thinking about how freaky it is that CBS shows almost never move. Even ATWT would get stuck on a number with only small gains and losses. All of the soaps are sort of stuck but aren't frozen in time like CBS over the last few months.

BTW, does anyone know the total ratings for ABC soaps--Live+SoapNet+Online Viewing? GH must rasnk a lot higher than 2.0 when everything gets added up.

Here's the press release from CBS for The Talk's premiere week ratings.

“THE TALK” DELIVERS IMPRESSIVE GROWTH TO CBS OWNED STATIONS AMONG WOMEN 25-54

The Premiere Week of CBS’s New Daytime Talk Show Up +60% in Women 25-54

On CBS Owned Stations and +50% Across Local People Metered Markets From Same Time Period Last Year

New York, Los Angeles, Dallas and San Francisco Among Stations Seeing Big Increases

“The Talk” Wins Its Time Period in Philadelphia, Miami and

Baltimore Among Women 25-54

Nationally, “The Talk” Opens to 2.14 Million Viewers in Premiere Week

The premiere week of CBS’s new daytime talk show, THE TALK, posted impressive growth among women 25-54 on the CBS Owned Stations and across all local people metered markets versus the same time period a year ago, according to Nielsen live plus same day metered market ratings for the week ending Oct. 22.

On the 14 CBS Owned Stations, THE TALK improved among women 25-54 by +60% (0.8 from 0.5) and by +50% in the local people metered markets (0.9 from 0.6).

Among the CBS stations seeing the biggest year-to-year increases in women 25-54 were WCBS, New York; KCBS, Los Angeles; KTVT, Dallas; KPIX, San Francisco and KCNC Denver.

THE TALK placed first in its time period among women 25-54 in eight metered markets including CBS owned stations inPhiladelphia, Miami and Baltimore.

Nationally, THE TALK delivered a 1.6/06 with 2.14m viewers, 1.0/07 in women 25-54, 0.8/05 in women 18-49 and 0.5/04 in women 18-34. Notable for a freshman series in its first week, THE TALK tied veteran time period winner “One Life to Live” among women 18-34.

That's some major spin in that CBS press release, they even topped ABC's spin masters with that. I don't think ABC has ever buried what a show has done nationally and only focused on 14 stations. They even mentioned the often ignored (ignored for a good reason) 18-34 demo.

They are trying to bury what the show did in the key demo, and what it did in HH.

Pretty sure 25-54 is standard to news/talk shows and know that Fox News always goes by that demo. The Talk is actually weaker than ATWT in 18-49 which is a bad sign considering the show's theme is so mommy and not grandma. The spin is too much and they're talking OLTL up as if the show is a ratings giant. Also, being number 1 in Philly and Baltmore is pretty gloomy from a sales angle considering they are two of the poorest cities. "We do great in poor cities" isn't something to brag about. Cities with high income and low unemployment like San Fran and NY are the real prize.

    • Okay I can buy that when Brook Lynn was a teen.  Now she knows the child is a boy one would think she'd be slightly suspicious.  Then again, Gio looks nothing like either of them so maybe not lol.
    • I've been behind & just got caught up & the last 3 days were amazing!
    • Yeah.  The hot, poor bad boy with a chip on his shoulder but with a heart of gold was a common soap trope in the 80s

    • That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates. I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.   With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.   I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.
    • I figure that was really hard for Dom to do. I completely GET why they wrote it the way they did but I wonder if it was necessary. Meanwhile I have 2 really icky ideas in my head. Drew is going to blame Tracy KNOWING it was not her. Dante is going to blame Lulu.  After that, everyone else is going to be mad at Lois.  Tracy is going to double down on wanting to get rid of Sonny. Sonny's going to be more dug in to stay because he now has a new descendant.
    • I can actually buy Brook Lynn being so self-absorbed and incurious that she never thought to question why her mom and grandma were so attached to Gio.
    • It was overkill and the whole narrative Lois was too nice to the orphan kid when he was little, WHAT? Like Emma said no one thinks Gio is a troublemaker that gets 14-year-old kids drunk for fun. That being said, Lulu figured this Gio thing out in episode, but Brook Lynn never once questioned Lois and Gloria's attachment to a child that was the same age as the baby she gave up?  Ever?
    • Thanks for finding that. I may have been thinking of this blog entry.
