General Hospital: October 2010 Preview

October 4, 2010 4:05 AM By Joe Reid

October kicks off with Brenda Barrett's much-anticipated return to Port Charles, and things pretty much just go off from there. Get ready for some personality clashes, and secrets revealed, and big returns. But back to Brenda: now that she's back in town, look for some reunions with the most important people in her life. Her best pal Robin, for example. And Jax, of course. Not to mention the effect she has on a pair of Port Charlesians she never knew before this latest trip: Spinelli and Sam. Spinelli continues to totally freak out over Brenda, as you can imagine. It's quite a sight. Brenda and Sam's relationship is somewhat less enthusiastic. Are we leading up to a fight? A staredown? Whatever it is, it's only a prelude to the biggest clash of all: Brenda versus Carly! BRENDA VERSUS CARLY! Set your DVRs, people.

Then there's the matter of Brenda and Sonny, whose romance has never once gone smoothly ... and this month provides no exception. Sonny wants his second chance with Brenda, but she thinks that's a bad idea. They're such doomed lovers, you know? So Brenda goes to both Jason and Jax and asks them to help her stay away from Sonny. But can Brenda keep herself away? Also, if you think you know all there is to know about Brenda, buckle up! A new twist comes in Brenda's story that we truly, seriously think you are not going to see coming. But once it's revealed – wow it's gonna change everything. Any guesses?

Of course, with Sonny lovesick over Brenda, there's the small matter of the woman he cast aside for her. Claire Walsh is bent on getting back at Sonny for leaving her, and it looks like she's renewing her efforts to throw Sonny's butt in jail. It gets worse, though, because she's willing to ruin Jason and Michael's lives to get to him.

Lucky is still collecting evidence against The Balkan in Ireland, still posing as Ronan O'Reilly. He gets some unexpected help in the form of his dad, Luke! Of course, nothing ever goes smoothly when Luke gets involved. Lucky also continues to get closer to Siobahn -- look for some romance in Rome for the two of them -- and he eventually takes her back to Port Charles with him. But there's still the matter of the Balkan, who ends up ordering "Ronan O'Reilly" to kidnap Brenda!

Dante and Lulu return from their great Irish adventure and get thrust into Sonny's orbit once again….just not in the way you'd expect

Luke Spencer isn't the only big return this month. Look for Elizabeth to return from her maternity break. She returns to Wyndemere and finds Nikolas still working on his Brook Lynn "project." You think Elizabeth brought back her trusty judgmental face? Brook Lynn might want to prepare for it.

Also, if you think Lisa Niles is finished just because Patrick is able to rescue Robin from the well ... think again.

What moments are you most looking forward to this month?

Speaking of, why isn't that in this preview? Did Guza do a last-minute rewrite? Or is he saving it for November Sweeps?

    • As well as insulting our host, being rude to members who correct you, and having an inflated sense of duty. While others may be able to add numerous offenses, the egocentrism to force any conversation off-topic to focus on you is the most egregious act for me.  This is light entertainment, an interactive discussion, not the shallotpeel-hour.
    • Yes, that is why. I mean, not last minute but it was not what Shapiro originally wanted. First, she tried to buy the show. Then she tried to buy the character. Meanwhile several other companies also tried to buy the show.
    • I thought I had stopped & then I saw this post from you. To be clear I said I was wrong. I have not made an attempt at any backpedaling. There is literally no place to back pedal to. I did 3 things. I deleted. i apologized. I said I was wrong, egregiously so.
    • I think bringing Dano back to OLTL as her original character Gretel/Rae was a last minute thing because P & G wouldn't let ABC use the Felicia character. So even though she had ties to OLTL from back in the day, she just didn't fit into the OLTL of the late 90s/early 00s.. nor did she really fit into the other soaps at ABC either.
    • I don't think they were the biggest factor, but I do think there's a specific style to Dano's work that wasn't helped by how pointless her character often felt (and later on the various writers clearly saw the character as a joke).
    • I think Evie came in mid 1976 after Rita broke up with Tim because she realized she was leading him on.  And Evie became upset with Rita because she didn't tell her that she had previously dated Tim before she came to town.
    • Please stop, you were wrong, and you know it, now you're trying to back pedal. You even got called out by the DAYS actors/actresses on Twitter for that sh*t. It was disgusting and vile and IMO the family should have taken action against you It was clear the general public did not know about his illness and it was NOT your place to "spill the beans" just because you run a Facebook group, period! TBH IMO @Errol should have banned you ages ago Donna
    • Who went bowling? JFP & Anna? Is there any more to this?
    • Another character driven show with interconnecting plots that make sense. I like that we go from one character, like Sarah, learning that EJ wants to buy the hospital, casually mentioning it to Xander who now has that intel. The only down today was not seeing Steve and Shawn breaking into the lab. I wonder if Dr Poofy Hair will inform EJ about Xander's call. I loved Abe talking to Chanel about losing Isaac and giving her comfort. And helping her voice her fears about Johnny. Kayla standing up to EJ is great. Kayla, freed from Ron, has been great. I am loving all her air time. And Sarah telling her that EJ must be up to something if he wants the hospital is very smart. She would probably clue in to the sepsis research being the big thing if she wasn't choking to death. I assume Felicity messed up the scones and dropped in cleaning fluid or something. Sarah said it tasted weird. They are never getting that honeymoon, are they? Xander has no clue what job Johnny can do. Johnny knows this too. Xander wants to legitimize his takeover by hiring a Dimera. Johnny wants to stick it to EJ. The honesty is refreshing. I want to like Cat and Chad but they are just so awkward. And none of their scenes work for me. Marlena and EJ was very good. I like her wanting to help him but also scared to death for Belle. Makes perfect sense that she is conflicted. I also liked her softly asking Johnny if he needed her to stay once EJ walked in. Ron never cared about this relationship either, but now she is acting like his granny.
    • Sorry, catching up, and the bolded part, yes! Should have been sued by DH's family for that nasty sh*t too   Anywho, back to the show, Kristina is freaking nuts, she needs to be committed ASAP
