The thing with Zucker, especially the last 6-7 years, is his defeatist attitude thinking NBC never had a chance to progress and get out of the rut it's in. That network needs all new programming people and an entirely new strategic approach. They have to want to be competitive again and create shows that have more wider appeals, niche shows just don't work no matter how many Emmy's they win.

They need shows that are more mainstream and buzzworthy, a brand new marketing plan, and they better hire the best damn PR agency they can find to spin, I mean, bring it all out to the audience in a positive way.

I like niche shows though. Are you need is decent demos to get 5+ years and I hope it stays that way (the type of shows).

Probably slim, but stranger things have happened when networks have changed top management. Whoever succeeds him will want to put his/her own stamp on things. We probably won't know the full effect of things until next season.

They can have a few niche programming, but that doesn't create buzz and much added revenue.

They can incorporate some of what they have now, and build on a more mainstream approach. NBC needs to want to be competitive again, it was a huge PR disaster when Zucker openly admitted that NBC would probably never be a top 3 network again.

Look at ABC before Desperate Housewives and Lost brought them back to the mainstream and from the brink of extinction. NBC needs something like that.

Exactly.

And I'm sorry, but building a lineup around disaster single camera comedies like The Office and 30 Rock(the latter of which I LOVE for the funny TV references) was doomed for failure. No one wants to spend a half-hour seeing people homoerotically stare at each other in two minutes of dead silence. It's not funny.
