We will be having a rally on December 1, 1984, in New York City to protest the cancellation of the long-running serial "The Edge of Night." Fans of the recently-canceled "The Doctors" and "Love of Life" are also invited to participate. "Texas" fans need not attend.

In addition to protesting the cancellation of these long-running daytime institutions, we will also protest the new, inferior, serials that have taken their places, including "Santa Barbara," "Capitol," and "Loving." These new shows represent the absolute worst of what has become of daytime television. Also, there will be an effort by "Search for Tomorrow" fans to move that show back to its native CBS.

That's true, I guess I was thinking of the supercouples hyped by DAYS in the mid-80s who actually ended up staying around for a long time.

Several years ago, I came across some newsgroup postings about AMC from throughout 1989, and it was truly bizarre. All about "the new Dixie actress" (I'm guessing they didn't use the nu- prefix then) who wasn't going to last. Heh. And "this radical new titles sequence."
