'LOVE BITES' - From Emmy Award-winning writer-producer Cindy Chupack ("Sex and the City"), "Love Bites" is an hour-long romantic comedy anthology series featuring three loosely connected, modern stories of love, sex, marriage and dating. Each episode contains multiple vignettes, all illuminating the theme of love with an edgy, irreverent spin. Becki Newton ("Ugly Betty") stars as Annie and Jordana Spiro ("My Boys") stars as Frannie, the last two single girls standing after all of their friends get married. Annie is an infectiously bubbly optimist and Frannie is an always-a-bridesmaid realist. Their story will anchor the series, while other romantically-challenged characters will come and go each week. The pilot's guest cast includes Jennifer Love Hewitt ("Ghost Whisperer"), Greg Grunberg ("Heroes"), Craig Robinson ("The Office"), Jason Lewis ("Sex and the City"), Lindsay Price ("Lipstick Jungle"), Larry Wilmore ("The Daily Show"), Charlyne Yi ("Knocked Up"), Pamela Adlon ("Californication"), Stacy Galina ("Hidden Hills"), Brian Hallisay ("Privileged"), Kyle Howard ("My Boys") and Steve Howey ("Bride Wars"). "Love Bites" is a production of Universal Media Studios and Working Title Television, which is a new division of Working Title Films (the U.K. production company behind box office hits including "Love Actually," "Bridget Jones's Diary" and "Four Weddings and a Funeral"). Chupack is creator, executive producer and writer. Emmy Award-winning producer-director Marc Buckland ("My Name Is Earl") also is executive producer and directs the pilot. Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan and Shelley McCrory from Working Title Television are executive producers. "Love Bites" is Working Title Television's first U.S. commission.

Me too. She's hot. I'll definitely give this show a chance but I think I'll like it according to the description - to me it could be a show like "Cupid" which I loved (both versions).

Sold! Will watch full season. It looks like a racy romantic comedy and of course Becki Newton helps.

Gee, what does the premise for this one remind me of? Oh, yeah...

Cindy Chupack was one of the best Sex and the City writers, I always wondered what kind of show she'd create. We'll see what happens here.

Hes in like, a few scenes of one episode. Or was. Maybe more now. But he and JLH are only suposed to be guest staring, but now that both their shows got the axe who knows?

I love him though. I always will. I love anyone from Felicity - except jennifer garner who i will forever hate because of felicity.

I can't stand him. I could never see him play a nice person (as in Heroes), he seems so nasty to me.

And I'm not really sold on Becki Newton. She seems so I try so hard, but always with mediocre or parody results. I'm talking Ugly Betty.

We shall see.

Weird couple, she and Spiro.

I love Grunberg! And he's been upped to a full cast member.

NBC Fall Sked Change: 'Love Bites' Out, 'Apprentice' In ('Bites' Production Pushed)

NBC is making a scheduling change for fall, with a non-celebrity edition of The Apprentice replacing new anthology dramedy series Love Bites. Production on Love Bites is being pushed by a few weeks to accommodate two new developments: the pregnancy of star Becki Newton and the decision by creator/executive producer Cindy Chupack to step down from day-to-day showrunner duties because of personal matters. Chupack will continue on the series as a writer and is actively working on upcoming scripts. The show's producers are still figuring out whether Newton's pregnancy will be incorporated on the show. In the pilot, her character is a virgin.

The anthology dramedy suffered a casting setback recently when its other star, Jordana Spiro, had to be released because of her commitment to TBS’ My Boys. Spiro will exit after 3 episodes but may return for guest appearances. There are no immediate plans for her to be replaced, though Love Bites is adding another regular, Constance Zimmer, who will play Greg Grunberg's wife. Grunberg was upped to a regular after his memorable guest-starring turn in the pilot where his wife was played by Pamela Adlon. The show's regular cast now includes Newton, Grunberg and Zimmer.

The tentative new scheduling plan for Love Bites is to launch the show in January in its old Thursdays 10PM slot, following the conclusion of The Apprentice, but the network might put it on it sooner in another time period.

"Love Bites is incredibly important to me, and it’s been gratifying that NBC feels the same," Chupack said in a statement. "Launching an anthology series, which breaks the form in so many ways, is a huge undertaking, and I strongly feel that I can be most helpful not showrunning, but writing. I have full faith in my fellow Executive Producers (Marc Buckland, and Working Title TV's Shelley McCrory, Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan), and we have a top-notch, dream writing staff. It's just become clear that for several reasons, some of them personal, this change (and a little more time) is what we need to launch this show properly."

The switch marks The Apprentice's return to Thursday night where the show was once NBC's 9PM tentpole series. What NBC calls internally "the civilian edition of The Apprentice" is well into production on the upcoming season, which features contestants who have lost their jobs in the recession. The next Celebrity Apprentice will launch in March.

I was really looking forward to the show in the fall but pushing it back could be a blessing in disguise like it was with Parenthood.

Hate Grunberg, love Becki. But do anthology shows--even with recurring characters--ever really work--or have they since Love American Style?
