A source close to the project -- which is tentatively titled "Good Ass Job" according to G.O.O.D. Music artist Big Sean -- says it will be released in June. Q-Tip confirmed he's working with Kanye in an interview with Brooklyn Bodega. "I just try to work with people who I admire or whom I think has got it," he told the website. "So right now I'm working on Nas' [!@#$%^&*], about to work with Kanye on his [!@#$%^&*]." According to a report on Roc4Life.com, both RZA and Pete Rock were in Hawaii recently recording with Kanye. RZA appeared onstage at a Nas concert in Honolulu on March 19 and a tweet from former Senior VP of A&R at LOUD Records Schott Free suggests that Pete Rock was in Hawaii with Kanye as well. On March 9, Free told Pete Rock, "Enjoy Hawaii, I'm sure you and Kanye' are killing it" and then wrote "@QtipTheAbstract on his weezy! Hot." Pete Rock took to Twitter to deny the allegations that he was working with Kanye and claimed his trip was "just a vacation," though he did allude to a secret project in response to Free, writing "Pls dont mention that on here scott, its all goody but i gotta keep a closed lid on it. "In the past, artists who've joined Kanye in the studio have been sworn to secrecy, according to producer No I.D., who has been confirmed as one of West's collaborators. Q-Tip, RZA, and Pete Rock are three producers credited with pioneering New York hip-hop, so their appearances would suggest the album has a traditional East Coast sound. Common told Music Mix that Kanye and No I.D. are following a similar direction with his upcoming album, "The Believer," which Common described as "raw hip-hop.". http://www.billboard...10.story Edited April 26, 201015 yr by Sylph
April 26, 201015 yr Member Well I'm a big Kanye fan, whenever he wants to release a new album, I'll be happy.
April 26, 201015 yr Member Yaaaaaaaaaaay! I'm so happy you're a fan too! I love Kanye! Me too. And superficially speaking, when he's all worked out, I will admit I fancy him.
April 27, 201015 yr Member I liked his music, but I hope he doesn't disappoint. I hope he finds something else to experiment with, bc the electronic voice thingy is practically prehistoric. Edited April 27, 201015 yr by MichaelGL
May 16, 201015 yr Author Member Despite previous indications that it would drop in June, new reports reveal that Kanye West's next projects might not hit stores until September. According to TheHipHopUpdate.com, Ye's album, tentatively titled Good-Ass Job, may be pushed back to the fall release date. The report comes from an attendee at the Island Def Jam Grammy U. event on Wednesday (May 12). No further specifics were given regarding the release date, though it appears that the album certainly won't be dropping next month. Other tidbits from the event revealed a September release date for Ne-Yo, and that Los Angeles rapper Y.G. "will be a focus of Def Jam in the near future." http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.11261/title.kanye-wests-album-to-arrive-in-september]
July 3, 201015 yr Author Member No matter what you think of Kanye West, at least the Chicago-raised rap provocateur keeps things interesting. In late May, he unveiled "Power," the King Crimson-sampling lead single from his forthcoming album. Like West himself, the tune was alternately petulant and triumphant, and drew mostly positive responses. Thursday, he released the George Condo-painted artwork for the single, featuring an Excalibur-like sword stuck through Kanye's decapitated crown-wearing head, superimposed on a tableau of cumulus clouds and blue sky. Early reports about the album, "Good Ass Job," described it as being heavily infused with '90s boom-bap sounds, with beats from Wu-Tang Clan's RZA, DJ Premier and Madlib. However, judging from "Power's" sound and artwork, it would seem that West is on track to make the first hip-hop Yes record. Seeing that this is Kanye and that no action can exist without overreaching analysis, feel free to chime in with your interpretation of what the image symbolizes. The obvious metaphor is that the world's reaction to his embarrassing behavior is the sword, Kanye is the king whose head is on the stake, and Taylor Swift is, uh, the fluffy clouds and the pristine sky. But that's too easy. More here. Edited July 3, 201015 yr by Sylph
July 3, 201015 yr Author Member Kanye's "Good Ass Job" Set For September First reported to be dropping sometime next month (June), it looks like Kanye West's upcoming new "Good Ass Job" album is set to be released in sometime in September, according to insiders at Island Def Jam. As we previously reported, Jay-Z is planning a "Greatest Hits" type album to drop next month, so it makes sense Def Jam would delay Kanye's album. In related news, Common recently talked about Kanye and his new album. "I been around Kanye for what he's been working on but I haven't worked on it. He can produce, write, he does it all so he doesn't need much help. I like when we're around each other creating because I think we inspire each other. Kanye is definitely going to come with something powerful and I'm definitely coming with something that's powerful and soulful, just the essence of what hip-hop feels like, just good music." http://www.rapbaseme...ere.html Edited July 3, 201015 yr by Sylph
