Members Ann_SS
The magazines must decide which soaps sell best, but those soaps tell them which stories and characters to promote on the covers and inside. GH has been having a press junket where the same actors give the same interviews about their stories and characters.
Members Eric83
But did they ever give OLTL, ATWT, and GL a chance to see if it could sell? The GH/DAYS/Y&R pimping seems to have gotten worse this decade, but they don't even try with the others. They couldn't even give GL & ATWT full covers the week of their cancellations. Members EricMontreal22
I agree, but DAYS, GH and Y&R fans have long had a reputation for being the most devoted and obsessed...
Members Cheap21
yep. I remember back when SOD used to have tis awards, it was fan voted. These soaps tended to win most of them bc those fans went out and bought the mags and sent out the ballots. I remember a few eyars ago Liason fans on GH even spent thousands of dollars for an add in hopes of GH reuniting them.
Members EricMontreal22
Ugh there was no way to take those awards seriously (one soap book called them the "Days of our Lives Awards"). SOD even changed the voting process at some point to try to help avoid such fan campaigns but it didn't do much.
Members Ann_SS
In recent years, Days, GH, and Y&R have also been stronger the 18 to 49 women demos which the magazine advertisers crave. It understandable that the soap mags feed into their advertisers' needs and find that this demo buy the issues featuring these soaps more than others.
