About as much as I trusted their announcement that AMC wasn't relocating to L.A....and look at how that turned out.

And this is why you hear OLTL ratings tumbling down. A story like this is why OLTL is in the bottom of the ratings. This sounds more like something Jean Passanante would come up with. No matter who came up with this story..ie meaning writer/show....it's plain stupid.

I just want her GONE.

I will gladly eat my words, but after having his fair share of stories that just didn't work, this sounds like a "jump the shark" moment for me and Carlivati. Electro Shock therapy is a very complicated thing anyway (I'm one of those who believes that it CAN do some good even if historically it's done more bad) and doing a story like this that sounds so campy sounds potentially offensive. But on the other hand I just think the story would hold up if they tried to make it "real". It sounds like a Passions story idea. It just really comes off like a deseperate attempt to get a "talked about" atngs grabbing plot there--one that I doubt anyone would really care about anyway.

And won't this play out largely after Mitch has gone and while Erika Slezak is on her leave for her back surgery? So we'll need another excuse as to why Vicki is MIA while her children self destruct?

I also don't get the "she'll find love at the high school" part. Why do we need to see a brain damaged woman finding love? Isn't any relationship she has going to be horribly confused and won't the man doing this "love" be a weirdo for getting together with a woman who he presumably knows has forgotten most of her life, including her own child?

If I want to see brain damaged women in love I can just watch Sharon on Y&R.

I can't help thinking he thinks he's doing yet another hommage to the original Nicki/Vicki story but with her daughter (remember in '69 or whenever, Nicki fell in love with Vinnie I think causing a triangle with Vicki/Joe)--but poor Jess was already had a crappy hommage to her mother. And is this going to tie into her DID again--would a new DID personality come out from shock therapy ir is this not connected? And do I even care? (as long as we don't have to see the campness of her glasses persona again).

But either way it's one thing to have a character fall for a GROWN adult Nicki Smith, it's completely different when it's a grown woman who thinks she's 15 or 16 falling for a student. Yech on so many levels. (and I know he promises no jailbait but still, this isn't a split personality no one knows about, this is someone people know is mentally ill cuz of something that happened).

If it's an homage to anything, it would be to the 1987 story where Viki also traveled backward in her mind several years earlier. With what was a case of amnesia ultimately revealed to be caused by a brain aneurysm (got that?), Viki had regressed to a time where she was married to Joe Riley... She initially believed Tom Dennison, Joe's brother, was Joe - and every memory of Clint had vanished.

Brain surgery and a trip to heaven corrected the problem, naturally.

Oh right! I had forgotten that story. Still with the twin of your first great love wandering around combined with an aneurism it makes a bit more sense...

The homages to history often seem to be somewhat below par, so this doesn't make me thrilled about the story.

I'm surprised that they are treating electroshock therapy so cavalierly. It can cause real, significant damage to people. It was used on gay men for many years, to try to "cure" them. If they were going to make this an issue you'd think they would have had Fish's parents suggest it to him.
