AMC: Actor leaving in March?

The sad thing is even with Canary gone AMC still has enough vets to keep the show going.

Lucci, Williams, Morgan, Knight & Larson are there as tentpole foundations.

Plus Irizarry, Eakes, Mathison, Smith, Kane, Martinez, Young, Mayfield, Egan, Goldin, Hall, Gatschet & Budig.

All TPTB would have to do is extend Julia Barr's stay, rehire Cady, Walt & Daniel Kennedy & recast Cassandra, Randi & Ross.

I so agree with you on this. I think that with Canary gone, the show could still be viable if they use the vets that they have left, wisely; and bring back some other's that could make the show even more familiar.

Did you like Yaya Dacosta in the role of Cassandra?

Ross is Palmer's son. His mother was Lottie, who was Adam and Stuart's sister. She died, and Adam raised (his nephew) Ross.

Ross was married to Ellen, and they adopted Julie. Julie's biological father is Mark, Erica's brother. So Julie is Adam and Erica's niece (grand niece for Adam).

Oh wow, he does sounds like he has enough connections to be important! I liked the rumor of bringing on a SORASed Hayley/Mateo kid, too. Gotta have all the major families represented (especially since they killed poor Julia).

I agree, they should build up the Hubbard's. Get rid of boring bland Randi though, either that or recast her at least.

ITA. What actress do you think would be a better fit for the role of Randi? I think that the show should get someone with more acting experience. Someone known, atleast. Someone that would work well with Frankie and Madison..

At first Yaya was tolerable but by the end it was time for her to go.

Recasting with Lena Cardwell or Davetta Sherwood would be perfect.

I love Brook Kerr personally  Maybe she could be the new Randi.

I couldn't stand her as Cassandra!!

Oooh Davetta Sherwood would be a fantastic choice for the role!

We talked about this a while back, but the Hubbards are such the obvious choice for the show's good, decent (yet kinda flawed) core family. And what works is that they're already so close to Tad, they kind of mix and blend and absorb that Martin energy. All you gotta do is have Tad and Jake and whoever they happen to be dating/married to do Thanksgiving/Christmas with Jesse, Angie and the kids next year, and there you have it. That's that Pine Valley thing we're all looking for.

AMC is missing its tone, that tone it lost somewhere in the late '90s and only gets back (with varying degrees of success) on anniversaries and holidays. I think character had almost everything to do with setting that tone. Just a wash of generic types over the past decade where the cast used to be like a fresh new box of Crayolas, just a wonderful ensemble of unique actors. You could even take a woman like Gloria Marsh, compare to a Mabe. Characters used to have more baggage, more going on behind the eyes, I miss how my mom used to talk back to the TV, that fun sort of investment in these folks. I mean, it's so trite, but you knew you were watching AMC (and that was a good thing).

The way TPTB have treated them is criminal.

When was the last time Jesse had a scene with Tad?

When was the last time Angie had a scene with Krystal?

When was the last time either of them had a scene with Opal?

When was the last time either of them had a scene with Liza?

When was the last time Frankie had a scene with Jake?

When was the last time Frankie had a scene with Scott?

When was the last time Frankie had a scene with Amanda?

When was the last time Frankie had a scene with Colby?

When was the last time Randi had a scene with Amanda?

When was the last time Randi had a scene with Scott?

When was the last time Brot had a scene with Colby?

When was the last time Brot had a scene with David?

When was the last time Natalia had a scene with someone who wasn't a Hubbard or Brot?

Ooh, I forgot about those connections. How sad.

Ugh, that makes me sad when you spell it out like that, all of those missed opportunities, like we're watching life on two separate sides of town. As I read that list, I kept asking myself, "Has so-and-so ever even MET so-and-so??"

Jesse has enough time to run the police station & break every law in town but not enough to talk to Tad?

Angie has enough time to run the hospital & coddle Ryan, JR & Amanda but not enough to talk to Krystal?

Frankie has enough time to prop Randi & Madison but not enough to talk to Jake or Scott?

Randi has enough time to work at Fusion & whine about Madison but not enough to talk to Amanda?

Brot has enough time to be a cop & flirt with Natalia but not enough time to talk to David?

Natalia has enough time to be a cop & mentor Brot but not enough time to make friends that aren't related to her?

Those scenes where Brot and Natalia were joking around and getting flirty around Thanksgiving were so good, they bring out each other's charm. It's a shame that Natalia is so underused, because though I do not want to see her become a prop, she would make for one hell of a fun and interesting girlfriend to any number of women on this show (I mean in the Pine Valley beyond Randi). And so true, why can't Frankie and Brot do bar or poker nights with J.R., Scott, et cetera. When I was little, Frankie and Bobby Warner were buddies. If Bobby was on the show I'd hope that they'd remember that and have them hang.
