The best/worst Baby Switch Storylines

Lots of soaps have done them. They seem to be a staple now.

From AMC's with Maria and Erica( I think it was those two) to Babe and Bianca, to Y&R's with Ash and Sharon( which you wouldn't even know they did one with the horrible writing, its never played on) To Days current one with Sami and Nicole. Which Soap has told the best/worst baby swap storyline?

To me Days has set the new standard. Y&R's is TERRIBLE!!!!

Your thoughts?

Maria and Erica wasn't a complete baby switch; Maria thought her baby was dead. I guess it does count though.

OLTL's Jenny Wolek/Katrina Karr baby switch story, which went on for about 4 years, was epic.

I would say the OLTL one was very good.

I don't care for the Y&R one.

The Sheila/Lauren baby switch 10 years ago was also very good. And the one on DAYS recently.

I thought the one with Babe/Bianca would have been better if it hadn't gone on so long.

The baby switch on Emmerdale last year was absolutely superb. Some of it is on Youtube. Baby Daniel's death, and then Laurel's disbelief and horror as she learned that the child she'd grieved for had never been hers. The other mother in the story, who had never been able to conceive and now knew she had lost another child, was also phenomenal.

Days: The one with Lexie and Hope from a few years ago was pretty good

Y&R: Sharon/Ashley. This one is turning out to be the worst. Absolutely disgusting and revolting

AMC/OLTL: The AMC side of it with Babe/Bianca was good. The OLTL stuff with Kelly was a mess

The Good

OLTL - Jenny/Katrina - An amazing story that played out in real time. As each year passed the ending became more gut wrenching to fathom.

Days - Sami/Nicole - Good story with good pacing and great acting from AZ and AS.

Knots Landing - Val/Abby - Although not your conventional baby switch story, mesmerizing just the same.

THIS. And I truly believe AMC has never recovered. It was so promising until they had Babe find out 2 weeks later and then twisted every. single. character. to make her actions acceptable and downright righteous.

I generally hate babyswitches, I think they're lame plot devices and are often highly misogynistic. Also they're often crappily executed and throw every available soap cliche your way...

I personally don't, as Bridget had some choice in the matter.

AW had one with Vicky giving Grant a baby from her sister Marley's baby clinic and giving their real son to Jake and Paulina. She didn't want Grant to have their son because she thought he was a monster.

SuBe had the one where Caitlin and Olivia were pregnant at the same time. Caitlin lost her baby. Annie drugged Olivia, made her think her baby was dead, and gave it to Caitlin. I'm not sure if that counts.

I enjoyed their individual scenes with other characters before they all came together at the Pub to commiserate over their relationships with Sami. I thought that was broken down pretty well. I just wish it had gone on a little longer. And I actually found it kinda funny too lol it seemed more mature than what we're used to. That's the kind of humor that should be on a soap. But I'm not really sure about all this talk of Dante Vitali and Sami's engagement though, especially since it doesn't look like Ali Sweeney is coming back anytime soon. What's the point of it all if we're (probably) not going to see it? It also looked like today was the first round of Brady vs. Xander as well lol I enjoyed their fight, and I'm interested in seeing this storyline play out. Even though I'm sure that Sarah will ultimately go back to Xander in the end, I'd like to see what happens along the way, and how they and everyone around them are affected by this. Btw, Theo and Jada? Idk. I still think he had the most chemistry with Arianna. And he was a bit of a dick too. It also seemed a little out of character for Jada for her to be so OK with him being such a dick  And though Alex and Stephanie were very boring again and need much better conflict than this book stuff, I am interested in the mystery of who's targeting Alex.  And yeah, I know this is a nitpick, but why is the Square still open after the gala? Isn't it supposed to be really late at night?
    • In fairness, Hillary and Bob Woods were thick as thieves again at least by the end of OLTL. But both she and I believe Mark Derwin not so subtly dissed Kale Browne in the oral history, lol.

    • Frat Boy Jr.'s reaction to seeing Luna was just awful acting. It was so bad that I started laughing.

Does anyone have screenshots of it?
    • Geez, I hadn't heard that Doctors story. HBS really did go through it.
    • No offense to the actors involved, but dear God in heaven: I don't know HOW viewers managed to get through that storyline with Maggie, Frank, Cal and baby Jill without running into oncoming traffic.  Then, to make matters worse, they dragged poor Diana into the mess!  I don't care WHO gets that damn baby!  Just wrap it up and move ON already!
    • Poor HBS.  To have to put up with Stephen Burleigh, who stuck his knee between her legs while rehearsing a love scene on THE DOCTORS, then told the director that's what he did with his wife; Kincaid, who had more hair on his chest and upper lip than Koko the Gorilla; Kale Browne, who taped his lines all over the OLTL studio floor, because he couldn't ever be bothered to [!@#$%^&*] memorize them; and Robert S. Woods, who apparently thought it was still 1979 and that he was still smolderingly sexy, so why should Bo Buchanan be stuck being in a happy marriage with Nora?  After all that, no wonder she jumped at the chance to play a lesbian on VENICE, lol.
    • @Maxim Thank you for the mini-review and clip from several pages ago. I appreciate you using the Bo/Alex clip as them meeting again by this point was a real surprise to me. The scene has some layers, getting a glimpse of Alex genuinely wanting the best for Bo rather than gloating. I was disappointed it ended with Tina dragging her out of the room for some much less interesting sparring (I did enjoy Alex pointing out just how quickly Tina got over Cord).
