Thanks for the reply @P.J.

Marcy Walker turned down B&B and joined GL instead, but I have no idea how she would've fit on B&B in 1993 as their cast then was quite full of females around her age plus I think she dodged a bullet by not having to deal with Bradley writing for her. Then again JFP/Curlee didn't really give Marcy Walker any better material than what Bradley probably would've given her.

Was Kristen on B&B at the time? Physically, she'd have been a match for that role. Although, I'm sure that other than Susan Flannery, would've acted rings around the cast. I can't see her lasting on B&B for long. Mostly because no one other than KKL and SF did.

I think the B&B part Marcy Walker turned down was recast Kristen Forrester, but it's never been confirmed.

Marcy Walker GL run was fall 1993 to summer 1995, so not even two full years. Her return to All My Children was not long after, I think early fall.

You're exactly right! :)  Marcy left GL in August 1995, just after being kidnapped by Brent Lawrence and then testifying at Alan's trial. Marcy then went to AMC later that fall, which gave amazing drama and of course the Tad/Dixie/Liza triangle that we always needed. Not to derail the GL thread, but this was one of her return promos:

Love to hear this!  Marj was a national treasure. Even if she wasn't exactly right for a role, she just always made me laugh or be enthralled by her. I also imagine she was probably just a fun person to be around in real life.

I don't discuss her as much because I just don't watch the era she was on much. (Although I do occasionally torture myself watching the final years, mostly to catch Billy and Van.) I love catching her on classic tv, and she was great as Blair's mother on Facts of Life.

Yes!! She was great with comedy too. I've always thought she had very similar mannerisms and acting choices as Kate Mulgrew, if you know her. I love both women.

Being a Trekker, of COURSE!

@DRW50 or any actress who really could act. Not the parade of former models trying to learn the craft.

I'm watching SOAPY and Rebecca Budig said Zimmer was the show lead during her tenure and called her a 'DID' - a Diva in Development - haha. She said Kim was so down to earth and such a fun broad. She said that Paul Rauch was so intimidating to her, mostly because she was only 19-20 at the time, but she was so nervous around him. I just found that interesting. :)

@P.J. Which Friend of Jill incident was the most egregious: Vincent Irizarry, Justin Deas, Marj Dusay, Marcy Walker. We also saw Mark Derwin and Sonia Satra become Friends of Jill.

Question: what's more egregious---the FOJ invasion, or the Texas invasion of the mid-80's?

I like all the FOJ actors. It wasn't their fault if they didn't work out on GL.

The Texas invasion--again, I don't majorly dislike any of the actors. There were a few people who were let go who probably needed to go. It was the decimation of the Bauers and Reardons that I hated. (Chelsea to me is a fake Reardon).

So I guess I would say that was more egregious, because even though the show did pretty well for a few years, I think this was the genesis of their long-term problems.

I don't think Ellen Parker was fired to pay for him. Remember around the same time Beverlee McKinsey quit, so they already had the money to pay for Justin Deas

Both equally egregious.

Kobe/Long and the Texas invasion got the ratings to rebound from the post-Marland slump but it also caused long-term damage that was evident in the final 25 years.

Sorry.. but the Texas invasion in the 80s helped the show.

After Marland threw a temper tantrum like a toddler and quit.. the show was struggling to finish out his overly complicated stories.. and two to three brief writing regimes tried to finish off his threads before Kobe/Long came on in May 1983 and gave the show a shot of energy.   The show was a strong and solid # 2 in the summer of 1984 and the quality of the show was super strong until 1985.

The Friends of Jill situation wouldn't have been bad if the writing and stories were strong.. or were enhanced.
