Speaking of Bridget,  I know  people don't agree but I think she had matured enough going into McTavish that they should have stared working on her being somewhat the new Mo. I think that the actress had a warmth along with the sass to keep her from being boring. I wonder how she would owrk with MOL...going from a sisterly relationship with him to something more...(both burned by people who don't love them and then Peter gets sick and Rick is his doc and they  grow closer...) Roger would have a fit, Ed and he could have some clashes, and Bridget sees that Rog does care but doesn't take his crap....Rick needed someone with some edget to keep him interesting. Abby was just too damn perfect.

I think Bridget could've been a sassier version of Mo...but Rick? eeeee...not seein' it.

This is where, if Vanessa had had a bigger family, she could've had a nephew (not related to Bridget) for Bridget to fall for.

I adored Melissa. She so impressed me from the baby storyline. Yes, they should have groomed her to eventually become the head of the Reardon family in SF.

Not sure I like the idea of her with Rick, but that's probably because I am forever on the Rick and Mindy train. Although with the problematic recasts after Simms left, that would not have worked out.

Here's an idea--have Rita return with Ed's son. That should have happened at some point anyway. In spite of Rita's humble beginnings, she would probably see Bridget as too low for her kid. She always was very upwardly-mobile.

I was trying to think of any male from the past they could've brought in for Bridget, and couldn't think of anyone.

I briefly thought about Alan Michael. He really should have been the head of the next generation of Spaulding, not Phillip, and he should have had a family. But it seemed like every regime preferred Phillip,  as they had him knock up as many women as possible.

No kidding. A-M should've been a bigger presence in Springfield. They really should've recast him at some point.

I'm not sure they ever said what Lainie Marler had---they could've given Ross a nephew Bridget's age.

He would have been a little older than her, but maybe Peggy's son Billy, which could have led to Peggy returning for some appearances and more tension between Bridget and Roger.

Yes - a vote for Billy! He and Emily Norris should definitely have returned at some point.

I think (but I'm not 100% sure) that it was mentioned at some point that Lainie had three kids. Regardless, they could have retconned it because most would not have remembered (as I do not, lol) as her married life took place off screen.

The would have been great. Though two problems: ANOTHER Bill/Billy on the canvas, there were already so many! 😂

The second problem is they probably would have had to recast Peggy, as Fran Myers was mostly writing soaps after she left as Peggy. Though I think she did still occasionally act. Maybe she could have done a guest turn to reintroduce her son to the canvas.

That's a good point. They could have said he was going by William, or Will.

I was looking for soap content on Archive and someone just put this up from a 12-year old Youtube upload. A look at a Jerry ver Dorn meet and greet from 1988. For some reason they don't bother to interview him (maybe they did in another segment), but if you want to see him you get a few glimpses.

Thanks for sharing, that's great! Who was Ross married to at this time? A schizophrenic with 3 personalities?? Goodness! :)

I actually think Hart should have been Billy, and the story could have still went the way it did (except for the family farm).
