And now I'm wishing I could've seen Mattson go up against Bev as a Spaulding. Geez...that would've been bananas, in a good way.

If I recall, any mentions of Hope by the 90s was her trying to battle staying sober so I could see Mattson playing that type of Hope... and a possible distant/cold relationship between her and Alan Michael due to her alcoholism with her uncle Ed trying to help Hope.   Plus, it would have given Alan Michael more of a reason to come over to the Bauers.

@alwaysAMC I finally watched the full episode of that All My Children tornado in 1994 and talk about an overabundance of great actors that GL could have had!

1994 AMC was way superior to 1994 GL

Would Robin Mattson make a better Hope or Amanda?

I love to hear that you enjoyed it!  I've gotta say, AMC in the 90s was pure gold to me.

GL entertains me, but you're right in that AMC was better during that era. I just haven't watched a soap opera in so many years, that GL's "bad" years are still great to me and I'm enjoying it because there's nothing like it anymore on TV. I really feel like I would love any 90s soap if I were to watch them all today.

I could totally see Mattson as Amanda!

Robin Mattson is only 9 years older than Rick Hearst, so I don't think she would have worked as his mother.

That’s a SORASing problem.  Ask Patricia Bruder how she felt about it.  Robin Mattson would’ve been great playing against type for a change.

It sure would have!  There weren't enough women characters that could go toe to toe with Bev's Alexandra.  I thought the Reva ones with Alexandra were unrealistic.

@anthonymolchan  I read that the actor who played Roger's dad was only 9 years older than Michael!

I could see Robin playing Amanda.  I wish there were more late 30s/40s women with Roger.

@alwaysAMC 1994 GL was not great IMO. It just went worse in 1995 when it jumped the shark and had to come up with more and more outlandish storylines.

@Speed Racer Did Holly ever interact with Reva or Josh?  Didn't seem like it. But I stopped watching anything beyond 1998.

Does anyone else thought the Blake/Ben storyline made no sense when she just reconciled with Ross over her sleeping with Rick?

I don't think Alex and Reva went at it too often, unless I skipped over stuff in '87 (which is possible, I know Alex thinks Reva's a horror and would've much preferred Vanessa as a sister-in-law). I'm sure whatever they did have, Reva came out on top, because no one ever got the last word in on Reva. EVER. RME.

I don't think Holly interacted much with either Josh or Reva. They're gone most of the early '90's, when Holly's getting better stories. Maybe when Reva became a talk show host? Reva and Josh kinda stayed in their own lane a lot. They got new people to interact with vs the vets (aside from family). Neither really interacted with Roger, for example. Although I guess Josh did during the Peter custody story a little.

I hated the Blake/Ben story. But GL was always ready to write Blake as a dumb slut.

There's actually a really good scene between Reva and Alex when Dylan and Harley kidnap Daisy. She flat-out confesses to Alex that Dylan is her son. Since Alan Michael was involved, it was one of the few (or maybe only) time they came together on something.

If I had to name worst character ever on GL (and there are many contenders) I'd have Ben in a tie with Jeffrey.

Holly kidnapped Shayne and Tammy, among other Springfield children, and Reva had to stop her from jumping off a bridge.

Probably the same bridge. Reva knew her bridges.

I can't believe they made MG pose for that picture. (The kids look so miserable, which they may have asked of them. Or maybe they knew it was stupid, too).

I have to believe that MG was having the time of her life chewing up that scenery, wearing that black leather, plotting in her basement.

It was a real waste of Ken Norris though.

Oh lord....that list is long, but certainly those two deserve spots of dishonor.

They certainly were her Waterloo...

Name those kids....Daisy, Shayne, Marina, Lizzie, Tammy, Kevin and Jason. Who's the dark-haired boy (Coop?) and the baby?
