jp. My hero. But you've never given up Days before, have you? Or was Sheffer's era the last time you tuned out?

Ian, hush that talk. Although I am tempted to hear the voiceover artiste intone "The part of Melanie will now be played by... Precious."

Wait - that's not Precious already?

(Stop that, Mike!)

PG....who played Theresa as only evil - PG was so one note and didn't get the essence of Theresa. Like I mentioned before, Lindsay was versatile as Theresa. Even when Theresa would do bad things, deep down you could still see the little girl who dreamed of Mrs. Ethan Crane. With Lindsay in the role of Arianna now, I can't wait until she has scenes with Alison Sweeney and Ari Zuker, especially if they became rivals - Lindsay's already proven she can play a good rival (Theresa vs Gwen, Theresa vs Ivy, Theresa vs Rebecca, Theresa vs Alistair, Theresa vs Julian, etc).

Lindsay's fans should spike DOOL's ratings.

Btw Alison, there is a new star on the show. ;) lol!

I would SOOO not be surprised if the focus suddenly went to Terror 2.0 at the expense of Sami.

HATER!!!!!!!!

The essence of Theresa was that she was an evil, spoiled child. I don't feel like Hartley emphasized that enough and that was where I always hated Theresa. I like vixens and heroines who aren't 100% good, but I like for their portrayers to completely acknowledge the flaws within their characters in the portrayal. Part of it was the pimping that Reilly did, but alot of it had to do with Hartley playing Theresa like she never did anything wrong, even when talking to herself or in her head. There was never this whole undertone of "Yep, I'm evil. Sue me!" I don't think that was a BAD acting choice, but it certainly didn't make her endearing to me.

Garita, on the other hand, captured that to a T. Garita's Theresa is a bad girl who was honest. I feel like that is far more complex than the good girl who always plays innocent.

It probably will -- temporarily, just like GG and EM did temporarily. Days has been slipping as of late. Maybe it will regain ratings momentum again but I have the sick feeling this recast is an indication that we're about to see a change in storytelling style that will turn off more viewers than it turns on. And this time, Days won't get another chance to "fix" itself. Sorry to be a downer, but after looking at years of ratings for a recent project, I can't see how adding more Passions actors is anything but a short-term bandaid that neglects to address the real problem with this show, a problem that afflicts all soaps right now. Days has been holding steady but with ratings that a few years ago people were saying were awful. Now they are considered great because all of the other soaps that used to be strong are tanking? Doesn't make sense to me. That's getting off the subject at hand though. It will be interesting to see what shape the show is in by October. Perhaps LH's fanbase is huge and will boost the demos -- I don't know. No offense to LH fans, I am not familiar with her work at all -- she might be wonderful.

I love PG and think she's hot! :) I just didn't like her as one-note-evil-Theresa. Lindsay was the only one who could play Theresa. Right now I'm clipping Theresa/Ethan scenes from the very beginning and I'm like, "There's no way PG could play this."

Garita can play vulnerability and fear. I mean, are we quick to forget Gabi breaking down on the witness stand and everything else after that on Beach?

I think Garita just wanted to put her own spin on it. Maybe she hated Theresa/Hartley for not taking responsibility too.

Tomlin and Whitesell have got to get rid of Hackley and do the brand of comedy and fun they are so notorious for...

That's the only way DAYS' ratings will spike and the only way I'll come back to the show.

I appreciate that LH has devoted fans but cannot say I am happy about this news.

The current actress is good (and getting better) and very striking. I came to Passions late and left before DirecTV. LHartley's acting style and look was not appealing to me but she is a very good comedic actress.

I'd been becoming more interested in picking up DOOL as a daily replacement for GL (keep casual watch now and gf watches daily) but this is a big obstacle. Plus there's the Passions threedux issue (and LH playing GG's sister again), even as good/popular/appealing as though they maybe as individuals. I guess we'll be seeing more and more of these kinds of reconfigurations as more soaps are canceled and actors reconvene on new shows.

Can't ignore the devoted following Teresa's 'ship with Ethan developed either. All in all, I understand from a business standpoint why DOOL would want to bring on LH. Just not my cup of tea.

Honestly, watching DAYS today is like watching a bunch of filler. All the stories are "B" and "C" storylines, even though they're supposed to be the show's focal points. :::Sigh:::

I'll just be happy when Crystal Chappell returns and Bo & Hope are put front-and-center again. Finally, an "A" story with "A" actors!

wow Times are tough when you have to rehash PASSIONS on DAYS :P I bet she's coming to town as Theresa to reveal to everyone that "Rafe" is really Luis. Then the acting will just go downhill from there.

Whoa, Ian! If that happened, I'd catch the first flipped channel over to Los Angeles or Pine Valley and abandon Days. Luckily, I don't think we have to worry... lol

This is just LAME. So now Lindsay Hartley will be playing Galen Gering's sister and Eric Martsolf's love interest? IMAGINITIVE!

Love Lindsay Hartley but I wish she'd go to another soap...I just can't wait until they find a way to wedge in Emily Harper as Belle and Dylan Fergus as Shawn...not to mention Heidi Mueller as Mimi...

I know you replied in jest but Emily Harper would make a great Belle. It was really jarring to me how much older the last Belle looked than Sami, despite the fact she was a decent actress.

I don't think LH will be bad. Anyone is better than the hack that plays Mia.

LOL @ the hack comment. What exactly has TS hacked away at?

Lindsay's fans should spike DOOL's ratings.

LMFAO! Right. because Days didnt get all the ratings they are gonna get by bringing over Passions actors already. There is only one person in this buisness that brings ratings with them. Her name is Vanessa Marcil.

LH only has a chance at hijaking the show when Ali is taping TBL and Ari is on Mat leave, except wait.... CC is coming back to fill in the star void. LH is very much in a supporting role, id be shcoked if they upped Arianna to star character.

I have given up on Days once - and that was because of Hogan.
