Kitty has a flashback:

Gauzy lighting. A living room, sparsely furnished. Pictures of a young Jack Abbott are everywhere. Some include Patty Jane but not all of them. Cut to:

Kitty, content on Patty's lap. Patty is petting Kitty, telling Kitty stories about the true love who got away.

Patty: Kitty, I never got over my first love. You never do.

Kitty: Meow

Patty: I would do anything to have him back. Oh, Kitty!

Kitty: Meow

Kitty spots a mouse in the corner. Kitty jumps off Patty's lap to chase the mouse. A picture of Jack crashes to the floor, jostled by all the excitement. Patty picks up the picture and gazes it at rapturously while Kitty feasts on his dinner. Mouse squeals are heard but soon die out. Fade to black.

Zapato, Fisher, the chipmunk, and Judith Chapman must really hate Kitty right about now...

Why would lab call PAul of all people to tell him there was something amiss with the results?

I think it's obvious that Paul suspected that Cane would try something, and he went to the lab and made arrangements to be notified if soemthing was amiss... seeing as how this is his case that he is investigating.

i can see that happening, but why would they certify the results then?

That's confidential information, so Paul shouldn't have been allowed to get it. He's not family, and unless there was a court order, he realistically would have not gotten to get it.

It was a stretch to have Lily receive the results too, even though she's Cane's wife. It wasn't her test, and there has to be a confidentiality clause for the person that had the test performed.

But then again, this is a show that has a sexual offender treating Ashley, and where DNA overall is a joke.

LoL, Sharon/Nick are completely in character. Selfish, inconsiderate, and utterly pointless.

ICAM...I believe this is what the writers were going for!! Especially in the case of Sharon, MAB nailed it perfectly right down to the therapist telling Sharon in that nanosecond therapy session that she got pregnant on purpose..reminded me that Sharon had done this before!!

But I don't think the characters are pointless though, MAB just need to move them in different directions for a long while.

Has there ever been a more complex villainess than Mary Jane? I don't know, but the performance by Stacy Haiduk is amazing. While everyone was reeling from Summer's ordeal, Mary Jane is just as emotional. I think the subtext here is she feels VERY guilty for hurting Summer. The flashback scenes were a bit too hip for the room, and even Y&R's production values can't do the writer's vision any justice. i got what they were going for but it just lacked that cinematic synergy of the sound and the visuals to make it truly compelling.

Also, for those of us who never got to see the original Patty shooting, it was sort of a letdown, cause I wanted to see that moment in flashback, plus they trumped up the casting of Young Patty, so I expected more from her than just a girl in a veil. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it and thought they did a great job of showing what's going on INSIDE Mary Jane's head and why she's so tortured.

BRAVO!

I really wish that there was some more logic though on this show. For Heather to believe MJ, who already placed an erroneous claim agaisnt her dad, then to bolt to taking Phyllis away from her child is such a leap. The writers keep asking us to leap, but very few of these leaps are earned.

Why would lab call PAul of all people to tell him there was something amiss with the results?

But still, plot holes and all - i thoroughly enjoyed MJ's reveal and not only can she be redeemed, but I see a BIG future for her with Cane.

Love your take on the MJ stuff and ICAM!!! Actually the entire thing has reminded me why I can't stand Jack and why I am having a hard time getting mad at what Sharon is doing to him right now!! I think it's clever writing that the show has both the Patty/Jack and Sharon/Jack scenarios going on at the same time. I am not rooting for Jack on this one LOL!

I won't even say anything about the Heather/Phyllis stuff...utter rubbish..unless VB will be heading off into recurring status soon!!

I like the Jack/Nick and Nick/Victor scenes in the chapel. And I love how Jack/Nick don't hate each other and that they can be caring towards each other.

I would've loved to see flashbacks too but I understand why they chose not to show them. However, I did enjoy the flashback scenes: the black/white, MJ in the wedding dress, MJ's memories about the affair, shooting Jack, losing the baby.

I also liked how they chose July 2 to finally reveal who MJ was - it was the first time we heard/saw Patty's name.

It was a stretch to have Lily receive the results too, even though she's Cane's wife. It wasn't her test, and there has to be a confidentiality clause for the person that had the test performed.

Lily said Nina gave her the results to give to Cane.

Fantastic episode today.

I thought the point of the retcon about her blackouts and stealing was that she had no idea what she was doing, she was supposed to be some victim of her mental trauma from when she was a girl. Then all that was dropped.

The Newmans still have life in them but they are going to recede and become less dominant, especially after Victor's gone. It's inevitable that the all the families of the show have collapsed into one super family. The Newmans & Abbott have many ties between them, Noah is "destined" to marry Eden and draw the F-Bs into the Newmans as an extended family, the Chancellors & Abbotts are very tied together, etc. It's too bad the canvas is overcrowded because it would be a healthy & good thing to introduce a brand new family with no blood or marriage ties to any of the current groups.

I agree with you, the Newmans still have life in them and IMO, I think they are about to be regenerated down the line as with all the core families on the show. MAB obviously thought digging into the deep DARK well of the past was a way to push the show forward and I am starting to see it take shape now. Albeit it's been rather uneven and plotlike but sometimes you do need the plot. Hopefully she starts to dig herself out of this soon.

I wonder how people reacted back in the day when Victor was feeding rats to his prisoner. LOL! Bill Bell was great, but I'm sure he's happy he didn't have to deal with the Internet back then.

If the Newman's leave, I bet the Fisher/Baldwins would be centerstage. So, please no.

Please it's quite evident the only Fisher-Baldwin MAB has any interest in is Kevin and somewhat Jana.

Sharon Case did not play that scene well when she told Noah that Jack is the father. Where is the remorse/regret for blatantly lying to your son's face?

She hates the story and her feelings are bleeding into her scenes. She was so great during the first part of this story but the last couple of months during the baby/Nick stuff has been sub par.

She is not selling this at all. i have to give Peter Bergman his due, he's had some major clunkers in the past but no matter what he got on board and rolled with it. And he usually rose above the material. He's truly one of the best, most seasoned, professional actors. Yes - I'm blacking out his fist-fight with EB.

Since Michael and Lauren have been there the longest, they should be the only ones from that family on the show.

I don't understand why Gloria, Jeffrey, Kevin, and Jana are still here. Micheal's screwed up family gets more attention than he does. I always thought it wasn't a good idea to build an entire family around Michael Baldwin, when you have that many non-core characters tied to someone like Michael, who has spent must of his time as a supporting character, it's going to be a big problem.

They obviously have no idea what to do with Gloria and Jeffrey, it's quite sad that MAB considers them "comedic relief." They're just not funny in that way and they add nothing to an already huge canvas. I won't even get into the nonsense they constantly throw at the Scobby gang. These characters need to go...

They can keep Eden for their non-existent teen set, I don't like her, but she's hardly on and Noah needs someone to talk to.

Just give Michael and Lauren a supporting storyline and let it be. I don't particularly care for that couple and if they broke them up, I wouldn't mind it. However as it seems as they're writing more for Micheal's family members and those characters are way beyond aimless and have no direction, I would rather all of Micheal's relatives and the spouses of his relatives be written out. This show needs a major cast cutting.
