Yeah, the kind of overhaul I was referring to was remaining true to the show's unique roots, while eliminating the dead weight in terms of cast and writing staff. Kind of like what CarlD2 mentioned in terms of Linda Gottlieb. She overhauled OLTL, but she also attempted to bring the show back closer to its roots. With her there, she let some actors go and she revamped the writing team. I think Y&R needs a visionary and fearless leader like that, which, I'm afraid isn't Maria Arena Bell. Her vision seems to lack confidence and it seems like she's trying a little too hard to please everyone, not to mention, she allows the worst tendencies of her Co-HW's to slip by. She's isn't a visionarry or a strong leader, IMO.

Someone needs to come in there, impose a strong, yet diverse vision and eliminate most of what's not working, be it cast or be it writing team or whatever.

I still watch. And I enjoy! Though I see the beef people have with the uber-plotting.

But, what with all the Y&R mega-posting (and mega-bitching -- which y'all have a right to do. I adore a good bitch myself) and the one-day-ahead viewing, my boring-ass posts get lost in the shuffle. They're SO yesterday. So I prefer to churn out my biblical-length posts on the Days/GH/occasionally B&B threads. Still plan to drop in on here, though.

I'm mainly pissed about Victor suddenly walking around with rose-colored classes and believing Adam to be completely helpless. We've seen our bitches become blamd and dumb, but this is ridiculous, and merely for the sake of the plot. How do the writers expect us to sympathize with one stupid character after another is really shameful if you ask me. Particularly after how Victor completely lambasted Nikki for being blind to David Chow's con. This is a wretched hole amongst so many.

OKAY.... here are my overall thoughts on Y&R...

First off, the story lines i was once really into i can now barly watch. We can start off with the Adam storyline. I thought it was amazing and dark and creepy and fascinating. Then as time went on it got a little plot driven. Examples - Ashelys family not being a part of it; No body really suspecting Victoria or Adam really for some time. What really turned me off is Victors reaction to pretty much figuring out its adam. I am still giving this storyline a chance, because i want to love it. But the plotting is making it hard for me. Also i think Adam pretty much killing the baby and the overall aspect of that part of the storyline is a bit much for me to ever get over with Adam...

The next was the mary Jane storyline, that i loved until recently. What made me turn on it was her playing a role in the quad. This quad sucks all life and energey out of everything. Also, i fear the show is going to take her to far like they did adam. Id love to be open and give this another chance, but her being so involved in the quad keeps me from doing this...

Now i guess the next point to go to the quad. what can be said. why wasnt this [!@#$%^&*] ended a year ago? why is no end in sight? who can i root for? fail. epic fail. please move all 4 of these people away from eachother.

the art storyline is just utter crap and story for story reason. in fact the scooby gang needs to go, and i love amber and daniel. you can see the show trying way to hard for storyline from these four tho.

and characters that are not being used and the show has no intention of using, please cut them. the cast is way over inflated. almost 50 people between contract and havy recurring. its too much.

i could go on but i actualy have to do some work now...
