Y&R: Episodes Discussion for the week June 22

Those dogs were created under LML just as Ji Min died under LML. MAB just killed four birds with one stone. Make DC the bad guy/murderer get him killed and Sabrina in the process. Then have Victor get rid of WP w/o being "a murderer". She found her out by tieing in those unresolved LML issues. Now it seems some more issues are being created as we speak

*Edit* On a light note I just read a thread on SOC in which the OP identified themselves as DG giving his/her myspace and twitter info

The previous regime didn't even plot the story out at all, they dropped it like a hot potato. Given that Y&R was the first soap to air strike episodes, you can tell Latham did no long-term plotting, and it definitely showed on this show, not to mention, there were numerous dropped things from this era.

I SO agree with this can they please kill the character of Kevin off of this show?

While I will miss Engen's portrayal of Adam, after seeing Muhney for myself today, I'm looking forward to his interpretation.

I've got to know, did someone here start this petition? My link

Look, I know your schtick is to hate everything, but there's no possible way you can seriously state that someone who went on strike and then got fired let plotlines drop. You're not a mindreader, you don't work behind the scenes of the show, you have no way you can back up that statement.

How was she supposed to resolve those plotlines? Photocopy her work and hand it out on street corners?

Honestly I don't know enough to outright say fire them. Though I'm not necessarily enjoying most of the storytelling technique, application, approach and format it could be worse and also how do I even know for certain Sheffer and MAB are the worse things about the show. Maybe one needs to go but what was good about it a few months ago I would like salvaged also how come SH is not on that petition? Oh that's right he's the less famous of the trio, when it is quite possible he is the weakest link

I didn't say she did during the strike, I said she let plotlines drop when she was THERE.

The Ji Min stuff was dropped months before the strike happened. Latham had ample time to resolve it, and she didn't. Y&R went to strike episodes a little over a month after the strike occurred, so that tells me very little long-term writing and planning went into this show from her side. Other shows, aired non-strike episodes a little longer than Y&R, so.

It showed on screen, and I believe Tom Casiello said in one of his blogs that when he was writing for the show during the Latham era, he sometimes had ONE day to turn in a breakdown, when the process is supposed to be longer. So, what kind of planning is that?

Not drop it immediately after she wrote it, and if she wrote actual detailed long term story projections, it shouldn't have been a problem. For months after he died, under her leadership mind you, Ji Min was either never mentioned again, or they chose not to deal with the circumstances involving his murder. So, most of the blame goes to her from my side, and I can't fault MAB for resolving it the way she did.

Nick's amnesia was also dropped during the Latham era, as well as who was behind that plane crash, and that was in the beginning of 2007. Who I am supposed to blame for that? Or is Latham absolved from any blame for things that happened under her regime?

The greatest tv series season finale in history.
    • Mick Savage was sooo unbearable. And more unbearable was the reaction from the female characters to him - they were acting like he is God's gift to women and sooo irresistible. To a point of unbelievable cringe.
    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?

    • Now this strikes me as funny. I have it up on my acct. The thing is I only have S2. Didn't want either 1 or 3.  Perhaps I should just list all of these that I have up.  Parodies: Dirty Sexy Money, Filthy Rich Incomplete: The Monroes, All That Glitters, Falcon Crest (have all just not all up), Once & Again S2 only Complete: Models Inc, Pasadena, Pacific Palisades, Paper Dolls, Flamingo Road
    • This is wonderful! Thank you for posting this! I loved the first two seasons and never got to see the final season when they cancelled the DVD release. I've been hoping this popped up on streaming but no luck. Happy I'll finally get to see how it ended!

    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.
