Y&R: Episodes Discussion for the week June 22

It was a pretty bad episode overall. The lame hypodermic story, the silver chipmunk crap. God, that was bad. The only good thing, imo, was the last scene. Adam being comforted in his darkest hour by the woman he tried to destroy.

Really!! Kevin has high school girls as groupies??? I (unlike some people here) love Kevin and all but he should stay away from them. Do they really script EB as saying "Kindly" ten times a minute or does he just kind of throw that in (along with "you got that?")

No joke. Trust me that was my first thought. Who in their right mind would let Kevin speak at a hs assembly? Then you could just see Kevin was so pleased with his little groupies, meanwhile Janna is in jail. WTF? I like Kevin and love GR, but please. Let that GO#D@!N chipmunk die already.

I'm guessing EB is the type of actor who doesn't so much memorize his lines as the intent of the scene. Then he uses his own words for the most part. That's just my guess.

I think it has been a while since they have brought that up. They talk about Kevin trying burn Collen to death and all but not the Lily thing. I wonder if Lily ever told Cane and her and Kevin's history. " Hey honey you know the guy that runs the only cafe in town? well he sex with me when I was 15 and he was like 23 and I got a STD from him! tee hee"

I'm thoroughly disgusted by the gaslighting story, not only because of the miscarriage but because of the rampant stupidity.

I agree with whomever said Kevin was obviously a short-term character who needed to remain the town pariah or leave but never be in cohoots with K. I see they're repeating Michael's experience's through the kid but hellooooo!!! Michael went to jail and paid for all his crimes. What has Kevin paid for? Nothing!! No matter that he's mentally unstable. Anyway, he's built like a primetime character now. He's unsustainable. And should promptly be burned in Crimson Lights with his brethren under the hands of psycho Jana, who, along with Daniel, should be the only remaining Scooby- before leaving town for good. It'll be an homage to Carrie.

I still can't believe CE's gone. :( I wasn't a big fan but I will miss him being a punk-a-- interpretation of Adam. And his whimpering. Loved those scenes with EB in prison. And now we'll never see those flashbacks again.

I don't even know if I want to see today's episode after reading the boards this morning. These writers are insulting us.

When they start having to make everyone stupid to fit the story, you know just how incompetent this writing team truly is. It's not even only with this gaslighting story, it's with the Scoobies, it's with the Quad, it's even with the Chancellor family story (which is still working out better than the rest of this crappy show, thanks to the actors involved).

This show is morphing into some Jim Reilly-lite sh!t, only not half as fun or as entertainingly funny.

I'm a little behind with episodes. What was the deal with Sharon Case's moronic facial expressions the other day? I'm talking about the scene where Phyllis asks Nick for money. She kept smirking, she looked absolutely dumb. What's happened to her? A few years ago, she was a brilliant actress. Sharon was a fan favorite no matter what she did because she managed to give her some integrity. Now her mannerisms remind me of Nancy Saint Alban (Michelle, GL). Which is not good. I wonder what Rauch, the super actors EP, thinks of her acting choices.

I liked the Abby and Noah scenes. In fact, I'd rather see "aunt" and "nephew" giggle, interact and bitch about their family than Noah & Eden. Dear lord, but Y&R has had no luck casting the Eden character. Time to let it go.

It was nice to see Michael, though. I have sort of missed CLB! I know that's not a popular opinion around here.

CO-SIGN and a massive side order of WTF re: Greg Rikaart's hair. That is some creepy hair, and when Kevin grinned at his HS groupies all "aww, shucks"-like, it made him look even creepier.

Farewell, Chris Engen. LOL @ you supressing the giggles when Eric Braeden picked you up and started shaking you. I'd like to think that the cheesiness of that scene is what prompted you to quit. Sigh. BTW, word on MM is that he's a good Adam recast. What's the consensus here?

Muhney is definitely a more skilled actor than Engen, but the Adam character is so poorly defined IMO, so who knows how successful this character will be in a few months. I fully expect the "Who killed Adam" murder mystery by November sweeps.

I think Muhney will be just fine as Adam, I was never crazy about Engen.

I like Engen as Adam. But I'm ready to give Muhney a go. I was just worried that he'd make Adam all "Mwahahhahaha" and mustache-twirly.

You know, I really wish they weren't referencing Amber's gross internet porn past. Gimme Moore and that damn birthmark on her ass/thigh/left boob/wherever is a visual I never want triggered. EVER.

    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?

Didn't want either 1 or 3.  Perhaps I should just list all of these that I have up.  Parodies: Dirty Sexy Money, Filthy Rich Incomplete: The Monroes, All That Glitters, Falcon Crest (have all just not all up), Once & Again S2 only Complete: Models Inc, Pasadena, Pacific Palisades, Paper Dolls, Flamingo Road
    • This is wonderful! Thank you for posting this! I loved the first two seasons and never got to see the final season when they cancelled the DVD release. I've been hoping this popped up on streaming but no luck. Happy I'll finally get to see how it ended!

    • In case it is of interest to anyone here, I have digital copies (computer files, mp4 etc.) of all of the episodes. And, besides having the files they are all up on my usual video hosting site, acct name: shallotpeel, channel it is in: Primetime Soaps and file names like  Flamingo Road S1E15 Hurricane Flamingo Road was a primetime soap on NBC by Lorimar Productions. 2 seasons. 1980-1982. Morgan Fairchild, Barbara Rush. Developed by Rita Lakin.
    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.

Newsom is a craven opportunist, but his comments today were exactly how better people need to handle Trump.
