Sorry, Lauren IMO has become incredibly dull since being paired with Michael. Her lack of storyline may have something to do with TB's refusal to sign a contract, but Lauren and Michael haven't been interesting in years (and CLB's best romantic chem ever was with HT).

Watching Kevin and Jana attempt to be strong for Daniel while he's targeted this time, I hope they both become so overwrought with stress that they have to be committed and we never see them again.

Then, Daniel hires Michael to try to prove his innocence, which Michael, strangely enough, just.cannot.do. until he goes the illegal route, and is convicted for twenty years and debarred.

Then, Gloria and Jeffrey, unable to regain the wealth lost in their off shore account, are forced to relocate to the project building Gloria lived in in Detroit all those years ago. NEVER TO BE HEARD FROM AGAIN!!

How much of this because of writing? TEB had heavy story under Jack Smith while recurring. I don't want to debate this honestly because I know the general feeling about the Baldwins on this board, but so much of the criticism is not based on the acting but on the writing of these characters, so if they get good writing then they could be compelling again. Boring characters don't generally stick around for 25 years or are brought back after a 4 year haitus. Plus, I liked HT and CLB's chemistry but they had maybe a few weeks of scenes as a potential couple before they left. Who knows how that would have played out.

Take this potential Rafe and Philip III story people are speculating about. Some are already to jump on the bandwagon and yet the main players are an actor who has been nothing but a dayplayer as Adam's attorney and an actor who has been off the show for twenty years. How to we know how good they will be? And yet, some are all on board tossing two proven vets aside because they are "boring".

Frankly, I don't know why I bother arguing this. The writers have done a terrific job of positioning Lauren and potentially Michael into a place where they would probably not be missed by the audience. I just think that if they are going to write them off, they could have at least given them a decent story before they or Lauren left instead of just slowly letting them fade into the background. They probably will keep CLB as a prop, but to have Lauren just disappear to take care of her mother off screen is a crappy way to end this character, couple and family. Maybe it's leaves room for them to bring her back, but it is just a huge waste of talent and as a fan a big let down.

For how long a period of time? I never remember the ratings from then, but the ratings for year I saw on Wikipedia had ATWT at #5, #7, and #6 during the time he was headwriter. It seemed like the soap magazines were also constantly praising ATWT at that time, no matter the quality of the story.

Victor will mumble some sorrow but mostly he'll just make MJ pay and be happy for Sharon when the truth is revealed. Then we may get some Sharon/Victor sex.

The problem is Jack & LML reducing Lauren into a rubber stamp for The Baldwin-Fishers.

I'll be surprised if it doesn't. I have to admit I like the idea of Sharon dumping Nick for Victor, just to see Nick's reaction (or attempt at a reaction). Perhaps he can start pretending to be Cassie and haunt Sharon into a nervous breakdown.

And if MAB wanted to change that she could. For a while Katherine was nothing but a talk to character and look how she is now back to being "Queen of Genoa City". It is all in the writing. I liked Lauren under Jack Smith. The first Kevin story was compelling, unlike the pale imitation Kevin/Chipmunk story, and the love story between Lauren and Michael was popular and realistic. LML did the hatchet job on Lauren, and MAB is going in for the kill.

I thought ATWT was Hogan's best fit.

Bill Bell was such a great storyteller that it's going to be really hard for anyone to measure up and still be faithful to his tone. And Bill had his weaknesses, like all the story he gave Cricket. No one's perfect.

Eric Braeden said he wanted a Victor/Sharon romance. Oh, boy. Great actor but you got to question his judgment sometimes. Yeah, it makes Victor look like a stud, but Sharon was almost decimated when she kissed Victor those many moons ago. What's next for Sharon? Digging up John Abbott's grave for a quickie?

That almost kiss between Sharon and Victor made me hate Sharon for a few years and really hurt the Sharon character. Sharon Case was in contract negotiations that had stalled at the time, and I think it was a bit of a hatchet job on the character when Sharon Case walked off in a contract dispute. It is bad enough Sharon's son was being raised by the man who also helped raise Nick, but to have Sharon bed down her own son's grandfather would be all kinds of wrong.

Of course, with these writers they would probably love it.

They'd blame on a mental illness storyline that we don't see and that don't go into deatail with at all.

And that's where the problem began.

Lauren was cute with Michael but the minute she became a Kevin apologist she was ruined.

Fearless Predictions for 2010:

Victor & Sharon get together. Nikki is long gone and Ashley's in a mental institution. Because Victor is the MAN, Sharon actually manages to be faithful.

Jack, Chloe, Billy, and Mary Jane are all living at the Abbott mansion. The brothers trade women on a regular basis.

Nick goes back to Phyllis but longs for Sharon. Phyllis spends most of her day saying "definitely" to whatever Nick says.

Kevin has another breakdown, becomes an art thief, blames his father and gets locked in a closet.
