Members Ann_SS
Sheffer killed off Bryant who was an important legacy character on ATWT. It was unforgivable. All I am saying is brace yourself. I meant that it is smart to What they are doing to Adam isn't smart, but it appears to be a done deal.
Members MarkH
Sorry, dmarex. Uh uh. I do not believe it. I do not believe Adam is getting . U believe Adam is . And in that story, I believe that he will be innocent...in fact, this will be the start of showing us he is not as evil as we are being led to believe. He may even be genuinely upset. I think that, in the end, the will be tied to Walter Palin's mob or the unfinished Plum-Carson tale. No, I'm not reading it that way. I think he'll be around for a very, very long time. After the summer of evil, we'll have the redemption arc.
Members SteveFrame
Why is everything blacked out. This is the spoiler thread. ???????
Members dm.
It was originally posted in the Y&R Weekly discussion thread and one of the mods moved it here, so... The question remains: is death really the best thing this writing team can do to propel story?
Members MarkH
Okay. I just following the blackening . I'll stop. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU ON "DEATH". Also, Heather is the SOLE "next generation" Williams besides Ricky. As far as we know, Patty has no kids (unless, of course, Amber is her daughter). Todd is a priest, so he should have no kids. Steve has vanished...I guess he could have kids...but he was trivial to begin with. So, if they kill Heather, they're saying "We're done with the Williams clan", IMO. Members Y&RWorldTurner
KILL HEATHER! But I would be just fine if she were written off or recast with a stronger actress. Not like Heather is THAT important to propel any type of worthy stories. And complex? Not so much...
Members MarkH
You are right. She is not. Her family is not. They could be...but they are not. Despite all the teasing about Doug Davidson's BIG STORYLINE this summer, and even our collective surmising (thanks, Cashton) that Mary Jane is Patty, I still have a hard time believing the Williams are ever going to be relevant again. Maybe if MTS re-signs, and if Christine ever returns...but actually, I have zero interest in Paul-Christine as a couple anyway.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
But MarkH, all of these are problems with your "symphony." The reliance on death, and the intentional ignoring of the Williams family, as well as other characters. This regime has proven just how much they like to ignore their problems, and those same problems become bigger problems over time. It is no excuse that Y&R might be better than all the soaps, the show is threading verk murky waters right now. These problems can't be ignored forever and it's past time to work around them in a more simple manner.
Members MarkH
The irony is that getting rid of the Williams family is something I could get behind. It is diminished. The problem, as I see it, is indecisiveness. EITHER strengthen the Williams clan. Or end the Williams clan. But this half-way status is what is painful to watch. One gets a tentative sense that that might be rebuilding the Williams family. But it's so...weak. Paul is engaged to Nikki. This should be a MAJOR deal...but it is a proposal done in a coffee shop, and then not mentioned for weeks. Heather and Paul's slow relationship building ought to have been a big deal. But instead, their relationship has received virtually no attention. Heather could have been groomed to be a major new ingenue for the show (or b!tch, for that matter). But instead, she has been allowed to wither on the vine. Mary Williams disappeared without mention. (They did the same with Carl Williams, and then had to write that crazy retcon...a story I actually liked...about his amnesiac new identity with Ruthie). They could mention Carl on occasion, for that matter. Todd is apparently coming back...why? If Mary Jane is Patty...well...her psycho-bent gives no confidence that she's being built as a major character on this show. Instead, they seem to be using a "legacy character" (over-used phrase) as the psycho of the moment. And that is a waste. So I will totally agree with you that the handling of the Williams clan evinces a lack of commitment in EITHER direction. "Sh!t or get off the pot". One small thing about the "symphony". That refers to a term I used once, and that referred to the pacing of a particular week's episodes that I personally liked. The quote was perpetuated by Tom Casiello's apparent referencing of it in FrenchFan's interview.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
You know what they say, you say one thing and by the time the message gets passed around, it takes on a whole new meaning. I use it to take an innocent jab at you, nothing with ill intentions.
Members dm.
To be real for a minute, this is just a spumor, one of many that have been created ever since Heather returned to Genoa City. This was just supposed to be a minor note in the weekly thread, but I guess it became more. I want her to stay, with Vail Bloom in the role or someone else. The character has potential; the writing team doesn't.
Members YRBB
First, give Heather a, you know, personality. Dimensions. If it doesn't work, f.ucking RECAST!
Members dm.
Ummm... did you hear of a thing called writing limitations. This applies to almost 10 characters that have been backburned for months.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
The writing may suck for the character, but Vail doesn't "pop" while on screen. She just fades in, like Amelia Heinle, though not in such a drastic way. If they recast with a stronger actress, the character could have better potential and bring, you know, actual life to the character. It's part crappy writing, but Vail has done nothing to make the crappy writing interesting.
