In every interview I have read Susan basically says Maggie was getting repetitive so she left.  I would not be surprised if money was also an issue - Gregory Harrison would not have come cheap but I have not seen anything from her to back that up.  However, before posting maybe look for something to corroborate your statements.  It will help reduce the number of arguments on this thread.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find when Falcon Crest ended production for 1988-89. Susan's last episode was the 1989 season premiere. She might have been tied to a contract with CBS and/or Lorimar until the season finale and/or her last episode aired.

Okay, I did some searching & you are correct, it was her choice to leave. Also she had surgery to remove part of her lung & is in recovery/remission for the lung cancer but now she is suffering from lymphoma. GEEZE!

Ouch! Okay, though, I get it. And, it's true. I tell my posters all the time, if you don't know it, don't post it. I will endeavor to do better.

You mean 18 months of 25th anniversary episodes and storylines?  That sounds unusual.  The show focused on the past for one week which seems normal and like any other show, it was more complimentary but not to focus on past storylines to continue.  There were some intros from the past in the 88-89 season to prep us all for the anniversary but they all went away after the anniversary special.  I probably am misunderstanding what you are stating.

Sullivan was more known as Lenore at that time.. I think and Barcroft never worked with Nick Costner so I don't see that as something AW would have done. In 1989, viewers saw Sullivan more as Lenore than Barcroft.  Kind of like Toni Kalem coming back for anniversary as Angie would not have made sense and Maeve Kinkaid would be more known at that time.

Actually, when I think about them talking about it in Locher Room chat where I heard about the day Doug Watson died, they talked about 15 months, not 18. And, yes, they talked about it being a really big deal like nothing I've ever heard of! It definitely sounded like an unusual plan!! They even indicated that Doug Watson was having a week off & went to a Dude Ranch for R&R because he was going to be working so hard on the Cory Publishing anniversary story & wouldn't be able to have time off. And, that big deal is what they completely did a rewrite of. I agree that it sounds weird.

Looking at it now it doesn't look so bad to me but I know when we were in the midst of the storyline I believe I made some smart-as* crack about papier-mâché!!!

Who talking about it in the Locher Room?  Which actors?  I haven't seen any Locher Room chats about AW's 25th anniversary.  I would love to see it..

The network and P&G probably only saw $$ and what they think the viewers could relate too.  Almost like Susan Harney coming back at Alice for the 25th anniversary instead of Jackie Courtney probably would have never been considered.

Not new. Alice Barrett Mitchell, Kale Brown, Anna Stuart, Christine Tucci, Alicia Coppolla

The anniversary was not the topic. It was a Reunion show & they only talked about the anniversary because they talked about Doug's death. But, I REALLY enjoyed it. Tucci & Coppolla are best friends & godmothers to each other's kids!!

    • Goulet also had an odd way of speaking - very clipped and brisk, like she had just gotten out of a '40s film. She had this on all her soaps. She was a better actress than Tolan and did well enough with Mary's grief over her marriage in her final week or two in the part, but had no real spark.
    • The finale peaked at 31.1 rating when Katherine hit Bobby with her car.
    • Exactly. And it's not like Stephanie didn't live a life when Hennig played her.  There are so many stories and relationships you can mine from her past.  And we just got......a book and sex with Alex or the random Bobby backstory which no one needed  I trust new writing can get the character back on track.  Like I said, I do think Abigail Klein has charisma.
    • Today (Thurs May 15) eppy not on paramount *menu* but it's on cbs.com. If you take the cbs episode URL and substituted paramountplus for cbs in the same URL, you get the episode on pplus https://www.cbs.com/shows/video/Huj7bAYV8H6T038u9cXam3bk6QXNkM2Y/ https://www.paramountplus.com/shows/video/Huj7bAYV8H6T038u9cXam3bk6QXNkM2Y/
    • Really good episode today. Even the characters who usually annoy me, like Chase and Brook Lynn, got some sweet scenes. I also appreciate that they're finally giving Lucky more to do, letting him in on Ric & Ava's blackmail scheme. And those Liz and Lucas scenes were fantastic;  Van Hansis has been bringing such playfulness to the role of Lucas, he brings out the best in scene partners like Laura Wright and Becky Herbst. It was also nice to get Liz's perspective on why her romantic rapprochment with Lucky is moving so slow; it makes perfect sense that she thinks he's not really capable of settling down, even if he wants to be with her.
    • I thought Keith did great as well. His scene with Colby was what sold me. He displayed the emotions that a man who knows he's made a mistake and wants to rectify should have. Its funny how Maurice has been given passes in his acting that other actors have not. What Keith has shown me is that he can atleast keep up with the ladies in his story instead of them acting circles around him when Maurice was playing the role.
    • Also Murder, She Wrote season 3 finale was the week before.
    • When Kat was in Ted's hotel room and he wasn't there, she started to write a note to leave for him, and then thought Why? and texted him instead.  Love that.
