re: Cass. I don't remember much of Kathleen or Cass, so Cass and Nicole were the first major pairing. I really liked the Cass/Nicole relationship, and I was beyond annoyed when the writers destroyed it.

I'm curious to know your thoughts about the difference between Nicole with Rex and Nicole with Cass, if you watched both.

The dreariest time for Cass and Kathleen was in 1985-86 when she was paralyzed. It wasn't all bleak but it did seem to drag, especially when she was away from Bay City and Cass had to get close to her through a puppet show.

IIRC, it seemed like they were teasing Cass/MJ a little at that time too.

Me and my husband are 2 new episodes in!

The episodes in question were - November 1 and 2 1988.

Again two very good episodes. We have the troublemaker Jason Frame trying to control Sharlene and forbid her from working with John. We have the always beautifully-sinister Iris manipulating Donna into spilling all the tea about her enemies. We also saw her gift Daddy and Rachel jewelry! Oh, God, if the only knew what she has planned for them.

We also had Vicky desperate to catch Jamie's attention and Marley's equally desperate battle to get pregnant. We saw one very touching scene between the two sisters... one pregnant, but with her priorities wrong, and the other... not able to have what her own sister is currently living through. My husband remarked - And that is one actress that is playing them both!  YES. Wow, she's playing them so differently.

And he is right. And you know what, I like them both in different ways... and the fact that it's Anne playing both of them... makes it even more special.

Overall... happy husband, happy night. 10/10 - I have absolutely no issues, except that these two copies had worse sound, but Thank God for the automated captions!

P.S He's started to hum the intro music. I think I'm achieving something here. 🙈

I do think Nicole got focus and layers as a character once Lemay and then Donna S were at the helm.

We saw how Reginald did a number on Peter and Donna...but never saw how Nicole was affected.  We got a glimpse in her last few months.

The episodes we watched tonight at dinner... were... November 3 and 4 - 1988!

Yey for the good video and audio quality episodes coming back! Eddie Drueding is an angel and his youtube channel is my home base.

So... let's begin, shall we! We had another 2 great episodes, written by Harding Lemay. I will remark on some of the things that stood out to me.

We had Jason Frame, being horribly beaten up and then Vicky and Sharlene helping him in the kitchen. We had Vicky declaring she wants her 250 000 dollars back! We had Vicky calling Jamie and interrupting an intimate moment. In the Corys chaotic world we had Evan creating more and more problems... He's been getting a lot of calls from a mysterious person. But we all know what that is, don't we? 🤣

And... long and behold - Rachel signed the wrong document that is putting the entire company in jeopardy! Who's going to help them now? Iris to the rescue. Acting like her most innocent self. She only wants to help? (But she has to ruin you first! Haha!) The episode ended on a great cliffhanger - Iris offering Rachel to give a huge chunk of her capital to save the company. How selfless of that little fox. Daddy will be so happy. Saint Iris is saving him once again. But at what cost?  😈

I already know, since I'm watching these episodes for the second time, but my husband is new to the whole circus. I'm telling him who is who the entire time we are watching. At one point I was in a midst of a crazy unintentional monologue that sounded something like - she is the sister of the girl that is married to the man who is brother to the mother of the woman who helped that man with the blue eyes that is the father of the young guy that is a boyfriend to the daughter of the biggest enemy of that other woman. 🤣

We both were laughing! And I felt kinda smart (not that much) for remembering sooooooooo many connections and family stuff.  🙈

Overall - 10 out of 10!

Tomorrow we continue with 1 or 2 more episodes.

And here is a moment I loved. Iris... in her most deliciously evil state.

I love it! Classic. When soap fans try to explain something ordinary but it ends up sounding like something only a lunatic would describe.

Tonight's episode that we watched... was November 7th 1988.

Just one episode, since he was very tired and sleepy. And this is the episode my husband finally knows what the hell is going on. 🤣 It took him 6-7 episodes to get into it completely. And of course, my help and constant monologues about who is who (from the limited knowledge I have)... have done it's job. He's a fan. Does he dare... not be... with me in the house? 🤣

The episode is one of the last written by Harding Lemay, just before Donna Swajeski takes over as head writer.

The key moments. Iris's takeover scheme is officially in next stage. She's done all the preparation and now it's time for action. She has presented herself as the heroine who can save Daddy's company. The scene between her and Rachel about the future Cory Publishing was sublime - dripping with venom, subtext and smart comebacks. But in the end, sadly, Rachel took the bait. She's agreed to leave the company. Oh, Rachel, Rachel!

We had Iris beginning to smell her victory... but she shouldn't be so fast to celebrate... we know that nothing's over till the fat lady sings! Her scene with Daddy was poignant - in his eyes she was still this innocent good-hearted girl... We saw a glimpse of remorse in Iris who realized that if Daddy found out what's doing... that would destroy their relationship. That's the price she will have to pay for all the evil deeds.

The episode ended with an iconic moment - Iris taking Rachel's picture down. But we know in soaps... that nothing ends the way it looks like it will. So... we'll see.

Overall - 11/10! One of my favorite episodes so far.

Iris being "The Chief" was such inspired story telling!

It's becoming one of my favorite storylines I've watched in soap operas... ever. ❤️

Stephen seemed to have some kind of chem with everyone if you ask me. I would wonder sometimes & later decide that was just his rapport.

Ooh, ooh, I posted a teensy bit with Martha Madison (Belle on DAYS) on Bluesky & she was a huge AW fan & when she met Stephen at the DAYS studio she said she really was a fangirl. Cute!

I'm so glad my sharing of the experience  has a positive effect.🙏 I had a second guess moment where I was telling myself I'm probably boring you guys to sleep with my commentary. 🤣 Happy it's not the case. And can't wait to continue tomorrow.

Magic to any soap creator, anticipating watching tomorrow.

And it was with the first MJ too. I wonder how it would have played out if AW had gone there.
