Not sure what you mean by "figure out the background music." Are they hoping to find the title of the tune, or the composer?  Actually, to me it sounds like a normal background cue, probably composed and produced by the music company that was providing all the background cues at the time (1998).  In most cases, those tunes do not have titles, nor are the composers names available.    But you could probably find the name of the music production company in the closing credits for episodes in 1998.

And wow, that was a very long scene -- even by 1998 standards.  In 2024, that scene would be dissected into about ten 30-second micro-scenes, and spread throughout a 60-minute episode.

This is what the poster says in the text:

Clip from AW 03/06/1998 from Eddie's page. I'm dying to find the music from this scene. It was used in here and there on AW in '97-'99 and I believe it was also used on ATWT '99-'02. I also heard it on an episode of Oprah so I know NBC had rights to it. I would so love to know title and composer or source if anyone has any feedback. Clip is of Jake (Tom Eplin) and Vicky (Jensen Buchanan) shortly after Michael and Shane's death.

Thank you for more detail, Donna.   Well, it would not be NBC that had the rights to the music.  It would have been P&G Productions (or Televest) -- at least for Another World.  If it was also used on Oprah's show, then she may have been using the same music production company (who knows?).  In terms of title, composer, and source -- the person inquiring should refer to my earlier post.

If you look at the cast lists in those credits, only about 10 characters played by the same actor remain  into mid-1983 (Rachel, Mac, Ada, Liz, Clarice, Larry, Brian, Blaine, Sandy, Cecile, Quinn).

Characters like Jamie, Julia, Sally were recast with new actors.

Everyone else was gone.

Did Christopher Goutman or Leah Laiman ever say if Anne O'Donnell was originally supposed to turn out to be Frankie Frame?  I thought maybe they changed this due to the show's cancellation because what was the point of brining Alice Barrett back for the mess of a storyline we got!!??

This was from an interview he did in 1999 before the show was cancelled:

Is "Frankie" the real Frankie or is she just someone Jordan Stark created, and what is she going to do to Cass and Lila's relationship? (don't do too much damage!!!)

A.M.
Pittsburgh, PA

Chris Goutman:

Let me answer this and hopefully we'll dramatize it because I think it's something we need to answer. Stark did not create her. This is a character who is her own person. Anne is her own person. Stark found out about her and that's about it. She came of her own free will and she has a history which hopefully the audience will find intriguing with what happened to Frankie.

    • Fixed. Thanks for letting me know.   DA's passing truly saddened me. More than many of the recent passings. I was holding out hope we'd get one more visit  before she passed.

    • Made even dumber with that Blake/Alexis chokehold, followed by the following season when Matthew resurfaced. WTF? There’s good reason I have skipped from Season 5 straight to Season 9 on a couple of my Dynasty rewatches lol. And Chase was supposed to die, but somehow they talked Foxworth back into one more season. They probably shouldn’t have at all.
    • Philip, like Reva, were characters that should have remained in the 80s and never been bought back to the soap.
    • I was just going through the vault and watching some random episodes from 2001, then 2006. Sigh. What a different show it was back then. It makes me so sad that it’s barely a shell of its former self. It was always so multigenerational. There were compelling stories for all generations without having to sacrifice anything to make it work.
    • We are exactly the same. Ashland Locke at least had potential until JG decided to ruin that as he’s known to do with just about everything. It’s clear Sony and CBS don’t give a [!@#$%^&*].
    • Considering Naomi/Jacob are helping with June... and that she and Jacob have a complicated history with Hayley.. there is more soap opera potential having June and Hayley being related.    This is the downside of the show having one huge extended family... anyone not related to the family are boxed in a corner (i.e. Ashley/Derek, Tomas, Hayley/Bill).   If this were a 30 minute soap, I could understand the one family focus.. but this an hour soap so we best be getting a second family and/or characters not connected to the Duprees unless through work/romantic.. etc.
    • That guy also abused Beth (the one Lizzie killed), which the show probably should have done more with rather than just giving her a split personality and having her do whatever the plot demanded.
    • Thanks @slick jones I should mention that someone on the comments for the Ryan's Hope video with Susan Marie Snyder said the episode must have aired in July 1985. Those photos of Denise Alexander are lovely. The one with Denise, Leslie Charleson and Susan Brown got me emotional. We were so lucky to have them for so long.
    • It's just an absolute mess, and at this point, I genuinely do not know if anyone could turn the ship around. It feels like we're too far gone from what would be familiar for this soap. Genuinely.
    • It’s pretty much become the anti-soap. Bascially the show has rolled back to where it was in 2021, where absolutely zero drama occurred and actually I don’t recall anything memorable occurring at all. Substitute Dumas for Ashland Locke and it’s the same thing all over again. At least we have no strange creepy story about Abby this around I suppose?
