Me, too. But I have my doubts.

And who's to blame for that? MAB. You don't bring on this intelligent, professional woman, and then saddle her with a name like "Mary Jane". Mary Jane is a reefer, not a businesswoman.

I have no problem with bitchy characters, but her "threat" against Sharon was so not genuine or real. After the threat she made this goofy face. It reminded me of what Drake said about soap opera acting. It's for the fans - and people live or die on soaps by how well liked they are. I was NOT saying she's on the level of Drake (goodness no!)But TB has become one of those soap stars who are more personalities than actors. So the goofy face at the end of the scene felt contrived. Again, I like Lauren, and I like TB but she's not serious about her acting. and being on a soap for 25 years, it's natural to get lazy. JC, bless her heart throws me off my couch sometimes (Greeeeeeed!!!!! Gloria! Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!!!!!), but I like them all the same. i just don't think either MAB or TB herself is unhappy. Like I said she's in the perfect spot for herself. she's used in scenes where she's needed, but with Sheila gone, I don't see her driving story again and don't really think I need to her to.

Rick James: I'm in love with Patty Jane/She's my main thing...

Or, better yet --

Tom Petty: Last dance with Patty Jane/One more time to kill the pain....

:D

Yeah, it means he was busy sending Patty Jane subliminal messages. "Protect your king."

This Patty Jane woman has very little long-term value, I just can't see where she'd fit in over time. I don't think MAB is that type of writer who knows how to craft redemption arcs or longterm integration of new/returning characters.

Day by day, I'm exposed to more weaknesses in her "writing." Again, go back to the non-profit sector if you don't want to be here, Maria!

Maybe, maybe not. If she found a haven, someone who really loved her to bring her back from insanity, that could be fun. Plus - she hasn't done anything totally bad, yet. And lest we forget, Victor will take most of the blame for MJ...

Who are they going to pair her with? Billy?

Victor will get some blame, but when he goes down, he'll most certainly take her with him. Where does this woman fit in if she's hated by Jack, Victor, and possibly Paul (however long it lasts)?

I have no faith in MAB's character development skills.

This show badly needs a cohesive storyteller right now, some things feel like it's being made up as they go along now. This woman can't pace a f-cking storyline properly to save her life.

Especially her OWN creations..... she "gets" the long term characters for the most part, but I totally agree she is not really taking them down new path. Thank goodness she really hasn't flooded the show with her own characters...... if I may ask what has happened these last few weeks to make you become more critical of MAB's style? I know you've always not been one down on your knees praising this woman, but you always seemed to be very impressed with the direction of the show. I am curious.

I'm glad people are starting to finally realize this! I have been bitching about the pace and MAB's inability to craft good new characters for months now  The signs are not good....

Yes, exactly! The veteran chars are more or less OK, but she can't create a new character to save her life!

She does well with most of the veterans, but she's shown very little interest in the characters she's created herself. I guess she finds it easier to write for people with an already established history, as opposed to creating something from scratch.

Don't get me wrong, the show is still far better than it was a year ago or under Latham reign of terror. However, I feel as if they've rushed a whole lot of crap in the past few weeks, and in certain ways, they're dragging tons of stuff out that doesn't need to be dragged out.

MAB can't pace properly, she hardly develops characters she creates, and some "actors" are way past their expiration date on this show.

I also don't feel any passion in her writing. She does the best she can, but I know she's probably not happy being there and does it out of obligation to her family.

That said, there's a some good things happening on the show right now, but the stuff that isn't good can't be ignored for too long.

Case in point Tyra..... which pretty much says it all if you ask me. I am still intrigued by Patty Jane and am willing to see it play out, however I am a bit skeptical. I am still in love with the show, but I am starting to notice particular avenues that are worth exploring for story purposes, but for whatever reason MAB and Co either don't see them or refuse to go down them. Which is a shame. The biggest one being of course Nikki and Paaul being interjected into the Patty Jane storyline if in fact Patty Jane is really Patty Jane.... a simple "Hmm I think I know her" from Paul isn't really going to cut it...."

As soon as Nikki and Victor reunite for the millionth time.... I'd watch my back if I were Doug Davidson. I think his time may finally be up, which in all honesty is fine. The character has served no purpose really for the better part of a decade.

"Word" to all that.

Emphasis on the word "yet", lol. Before it's all said and done, Patty Jane might end up switching Sharon's baby with someone else's, be exposed for gaslighting Ashley, and then set fire to the Jabot lab, w/ all the Abbotts trapped inside.

I do agree with you Alvin, for all the great things going on it is kind of negated by some really glaring problems..... Cane of course being an obvious one, but relaly I am starting to get sick of Billy..... MAB is being very ABC with the way she is shoving the character down our throats......

I think you've just given MAB her easy redemption for Janitor Gloria. Her shift will be that night and she'll come to the rescue
