As someone pointed out...it's a new month...new thread (a couple of days late).

Strong eppy for a Monday. Yes, the Paul/Meg story still sucks.

But I felt some progress in the Carly story. First, it's clear Carly's not comfortable dating Craig. She lied and tried to make it all about Sage, but Craig saw through it. Second, Jack is clearly concerned about her sudden change in behavior, and it's not sitting well with Janet (who clearly doesn't want to dwell on Carly or Jack's concern for her---she even blithely suggests and intervention---for him). Third, Craig is completely oblivious to Carly's drinking. She used to choke down shots of vodka with him, now she's chugging back tumblers of the stuff and making sure he remembers to bring the bottle with him when he comes to her bed. And in some ways, his drinking is as disturbing as hers.

I think TIIC are doing a fairly decent job of showing us Carly's slide down the road to "perdition".

I saw the first 10 min during my lunch hour and thought it was awful. So sick of Meg/Dusty/Paul/Lucy madness. I haven't seen the rest on DVD and sadly I probably won't.

I never really hated Paul until very recently, and today solidified that hatred for me. I can't believe that he managed to get the baby away from Meg, and fool the social worker so well and so quickly.

Janet and Jack scenes tend to bore me, but once Carly and Craig showed up things got a little more interesting. Just a little.

The Lucy/Dusty/Paul/Meg scenes were awful, but I'm liking Craig and Carly. Not that I usually don't, but I think the way they're handling their storyline is much better than the Lusty/Peg/whatever crap. And they're on FOUR days this week. ENOUGH already!

Oh, and Jack and Carly have a daughter named Sage. Nice of TPTB to remember.

Shows like today's highlight why I dislike both Luke and Paul.

Luke throws a hissy-fit worthy of a 12 year old girl when he finds his mom in a room with a shirtless man. Yeah...I get that Damian is the Evil Borg King, supposedly. But instead of handling it like a young adult, Luke gets this whiny, pissy 'tude, accuses his mother of being under Damian's thumb, and storms off. (At least when Parker pulls this crap, he's only four years older than the proverbial 12 yr old girl.)

UGH...what to say about Paul. He's a vile, disgusting human being. I hate the convenient ducks being lined up in a row (a babysitter who's skipped town, a feeble Social Worker who buys this entire spiel without bothering to do any fact checking whatsoever) to give Paul the upper hand in a custody battle. I hate the fact Meg's only solution is to strip off her dress and offer to hump her ex. The only good thing (if you can call it that) is that I feel like I'm watching the genesis of the next James and Barbara. Although it's not nearly as compelling. If TIIC EVER try to reunite Paul and Meg after that---they're out of their friggin' minds.

If I felt for a second there was a long term plan involved, then I think this is a fantastic idea! Unfortunately, I don't think it's a "genesis" for anything. I think it's all just completely written on the fly, with no planned beginning, middle, or end. Hell, there isn't even a direction!

Oh, I never feel like stories have a direction either. But I've always thought that once Paul had a child, his insecurities should push him to be more like James.

I think they stumbled into it...but this Paul/Meg/Dusty story seems very James/Barbara/Gunnar-ish. All we need is Paul to give Meg hallucinogens and have her locked away...

I pretty much agree with you. Luke is getting on my nerves. But i do wonder if it is Van's awful delivery. His actins is so bad. He is so over the top. I wish Luke would just go away.

Paul is pure satan.

Yeah, "You're a bad monster." *sticks out tongue* ...I'm sorry, WTF was that?

I have to say the Zac/Noah kiss had me laughing my ass off. This has to be written as a joke, because the writers can't really believe we take this seriously... or do they?

ICAM but I don't think either one of them (Luke/Van) will improve as long as the fan base continues to accept the storyline and the actor as they are now.

Paul is becoming his father's son, and Meg is getting exactly what she deserves because she was warned.

I don't think the twins are twins or even related. If they are related, then, they sure have that incest vibe going on. I think they are pretending to be twins for some nefarious reason which would make for a really good storyline if handled right. But alas, I don't think the writers have it in them to do a story arc that makes sense and that last longer than a few weeks.

    • With all the changes Sunny was one of the longest running characters by that time.  She had never been married and had heaps of story potential. I can see America getting with SFT -you know 'the circus soap'. Smart move because circuses were all the rage with the kids in the 80's. Maybe Stu and Jo could have bought the circus.
    • It is actually pathetic, that Victor’s 50 year old children are still written as scared of this man that has to sit in every scene. I get it, EB has been on the show for almost 50 years, but I don’t care. He’s a man in his 80’s and should not be the damn lead and driving force because you don’t want to upset Eric Braeden ‘s fragile ego that only exists because the writers have cowtowed to this man for so long.
    • PREACH Victor being written as he was 20 years ago to support EB's ego or some misguided belief that what worked decades ago is still relevant is destroying the show. Victor comes off as a rambling old fool holding on to vendettas and a desperate need for perceived power. His children still cow-towing to him makes them look equally foolish. If the writing portrayed Victor as  more of an irritant to them then maybe it would work.
    • They desperately need another meeting spot that isn’t Orphy Genes or the Country club. Y&R is awful now but there’s at least GCAC, Crimson Lights, Society, and the Jazz room at GCAC to meet at. 4 places is definitely better than 2 and I can’t imagine these rich folks literally only eat at their damn country club.
    • I support all of this. 80 year old Victor reading lines off the table or teleprompter until it’s time to yell at someone and still being the main man driving story on the show is absolutely ridiculous to me and one of the biggest issues with the show. I respect Braeden for wanting to keep working in his old age is great and all, but WHY IS HE THE LEAD?
    • I believe they said 27 sets. We have not seen that many maybe around 20. Perhaps they meant they have space for that number. I would like to see another meeting place -maybe a restaurant that could fit in b/w Orphy's and the Country Club. Casual but classy. Jacob/Naomi need a living room and it would be good if Vern/Anita had a smaller study/library so they're not always in the same room. I guess budget plays a part. For example, maybe the plan is for Jacob/Naomi to get a home down the track when they become more prominent. I really hope that outdoor sets come into use. A terrace at the Country Club or a few shopfronts-a park maybe. Speculation re June. I would go with a Hayley connection as she needs something else to do apart from whining to Bill. June could  provide some conflict cos I don't see Bill being that interested in having her around. He could try to buy her off, upsetting Hayley or she could overhear/uncover some dirt on Bill so he's forced to keep her around. The parents of Tyrell/Samantha can be held for down the track along with the mystery of Andre's parents. The advantage of a new show is that there is so much from character's pasts that can be used. An ex for Vernon or Anita and various relatives to come out of the woodwork.
    • Oh god I haven’t gotten to that episode yet, you have to be [!@#$%^&*].ing kidding me. I will say to my surprise, the Danny actor no longer bothers me. He has actually improved quite a bit.
    • I hear what you are saying, but I feel there is definitely an opportunity for improvement. If the set problem is to remain, then the whole focus has to change. Business has to take a back seat if there are no sets available to support story. As I have said before return to Jabot and have a number of characters working and interacting there. They seem super reluctant to do it but Victor needs to be a more supporting character.  Eric Braeden seems determined to carry on and that is of course admirable, but keeping Victor as this dominating force has been detrimental. Have a sweet reunion of Sharon and Nick and marry them off for good. Bring on Faith and I'd even have Adamson back as Noah at this point to support Nick/Sharon in a parenting role. They really need to bite the bullet and drop one of the following -Billy, Chelsea, Phyllis or make them recurring like Abby/Ashley with appearances or short term stories when appropriate. Free up some space for new or returning characters- Noah, Allie, Fen, Moses, even a recast Dylan.
    • Today was really boring. I get we needed to have Martin accepting Eva but man I needed some Leslie today. Anita being hung up on was intriguing though.
    • Yup, that's John Mahoney, a few months before the star-studded 1986 production of The House of Blue Leaves. Also, God bless TPTB for thinking that a circus storyline was gonna grab the hearts and attention of viewers.
