Hmm...yeah went to a monthly thread for the month of March. The show sucks period! It's so bad the posting is non existent. Hell my personal life is more entertaining than ATWT right now and that's saying a lot!

So discuss the [!@#$%^&*] that is Jean Pissy's writing and Goutman's ass producing.

Okay...in an effort to discuss the show...here goes...

Would anyone opening the door to Henry with that look on his kisser, have ANY confidence he was really "on board" with Vienna being a surrogate for Katie and Brad?

And even as stupid as Luke is, can he NOT understand Noah's point that the cops should be handling the case?? Didn't he ever think that maybe Margo wouldn't appreciate the entire town knowing the cops were trying to smoke out the real dealer (if, in fact Casey's really still in jail to do just that---I'm completely blanking, even though it was probably on Friday.) Do they really have to make Luke THAT stupid? I actually feel sorry for Noah, it's like he's dealing with a five year old with absolutely NO impulse control.

HEY KELLY!! You must be really excited this week, huh? Nice to see someone can be.

Hey PJ! Yes I am, it's my bi-annual crumb I guess lol....which is usually followed by a slap in the face but at least I'm prepared.

So in an effort to be prepared, I watched today (please remember that I haven't watched in months so I'm way behind).

WTF is going on with Ali's hair?

Ali/Casey? Fail. I love Billy but Marnie's Ali is such a wet blanket (the writing does the character no favors - she's a Stewart for crying out loud).

Word, PJ on Henry's face. This has disaster written all over it as well. And I know Katie has always been a bit baby obsessed but she was really grating on me today.

I know how you feel...I got my monthly Carjack crumb two weeks ago, and it's been way, way downhill since.

I think Marnie got stuck in trying to differentiate herself. When she was blonde, we had a ton of blondes. Now that she's gone dark, it seems every new hire has dark hair.

TIIC just don't know what to write for Ali. She is a blue-balling wet blanket. She can't enjoy anything (which is really weird for an ex-porn star), and she's so freakin' earnest it makes my teeth ache. If Luke were straight, they'd be a perfectly annoying match for each other.

I'd like to like Casey/Ali...I really would. I've come to appreciate Billy Magnussen. But Ali is just so listless and dull, they're almost like a rewind of Gwen/Will. ICK.

You'd think that entire quad would be fun, wouldn't you?? I think it's time they blew them up...all Henry does is have sex with Vienna. (OMG, a couple of weeks ago, he plotted with Carly and Lily for one day, and it was such a relief!) Brad and Katie are booorrrrinnnng. And Vienna is really nothing more than a dayplayer anyway.

Now that I think about it...Brad didn't even look happy at the end. I'm really tired of everyone doing backflips to make Katie's dreams come true. <_<

A dream that STILL makes no sense to me. Her line today about "Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of becoming a mother"... really? Like when you were on cruise ships, bitter at your lounge-act mother? Or when you broke into Lucinda's pool and went skinny-dipping with Chris? Or when you put rat poison in Molly's tuna fish sandwich at WOAK? Or when you lied to Holden about "Lily" being Rose? Or when you tracked down a diamond to prove to Simon you were the woman of his dreams? At one point has Katie Peretti EVER wanted a child?!

I'll tell you when. Never.

If they actually played that beat -- Katie saying she never thought she was the "mother" type, but since she met Brad, she sees something in her future she never could before, then fine. But that's not what I heard today. What I heard today was Katie dreaming about this since she was a little girl.

I call bullsh!t.

LOL...well the "little girl" part was enough to send you into a diabetic coma, and I don't think Katie's "dream" has always been to be a mother. (would she really risk anyone slobbering all over her Barbie collection??? LOL) But it wouldn't be Katie if she wasn't overdramatizing every. single. setback. either. What I can't wait for is her inevitable meltdown when she spouts off at some "negligent" mother of Oakdale---most likely Carly. Jus' 'cause I want Carly to slap the piss out of her.

Y'know who I really don't buy wanting to be a mommy?? VIENNA. Yep...the luxury obsessed former jet setter just can't function without bearing Henry's fruit. WHATEVER.

Well put Mike. ;) I just rolled my eyes when I heard all that crap coming out of Katie's mouth. Dear Gawd can Jean Pissy's writing get any worse??

I'm so busy right now but will be on later to post about the rest of the awful show today.....Nuke won't escape my wrath!

Don't get me started on NUke today...

And the other thing - ATWT had a total way out of the Katie problem too - that she never wanted to be a mother until she met Jack, and got to know Parker, Sage and JJ. And if anything came out of her and Jack, it's Katie's realization that she COULD be a mother.

The more I think about it, the more I can see the scenes in my head. And what a joy for the audience to come to the conclusion WITH Katie, IN THE MOMENT. No - instead we find out that everythign Katie's ever done in her life, has all been to have a baby. Right.

Haven't watched Monday's episode yet and not reading this thread because I don't want it spoiled. Not because I think it's going to be good or anything. As soon as I watch, I'll post my thoughts! Hopefully, I'll have at least one positive thing to say.

Oh, and Elizabeth Hubbard got an Emmy Pre-Nom! Can I get a HELLS YEAH!?!!!!!!!!!

I love Liz...but one has to wonder WTF she got a pre-nom for. Other than being the only vet with anything close to a story last year. Obviously, no one else (like Marie Wilson) wanted to venture into the Lead category now that Martha's gone.

Well, I'm betting Kelly's in heaven, with those scenes for Pem today. *winks*

Meg's showing herself to be the slutty little jealous type, isn't she??

ICK to the Craig as hero scenes. Ummn....probably would have bought his "heroism" a little more if he a) hadn't set Carly up for it and B) done some attack-style smacking on Carly himself.

I don't know what to make of nuLucy. Except she seems to come off younger and younger with each recast.

I am in heaven! ::twirls::

My Paul and Em are just so fun...I was literally laughing out loud at their scenes (and there was one point where Roger and Kelley totally started cracking up while Paul and Emily were making out lol....)

I don't even need them to be together, but more fun friendshippy (with snark) scenes like that please.

Oh and the "Wow, you're HOT!"....LMAO!

Meg just needs to DIE.

IA PJ, that Lucy seems younger to me with this recast.

    • The other issue with Missy: in June 2020, she "liked" some social media posts by Candace Owens -- things Candace said that were against Black Lives Matter.  That is described here https://tvline.com/news/melissa-reeves-racism-days-of-our-lives-instagram-controversy-2894568/ I don't know if that was ever resolved.
    • She appeared onscreen not long after Rose Livingston and Sara Montaigne, and we found out that Sara was Rose's estranged daughter. I wonder whether Peggy might have been part of that family group -- or else they were just juggling a few different potential mysteries so that they could develop whatever seemed to be getting the best response from the audience. They didn't do anything much with Rose and Sara really either. Maybe Rose would have become more prominent if Rachel and Mac had split up over Mitch, or if Sara had really flourished. In some ways I can picture Cheryl being affected by MJ's prostitution similarly to how Josie was distressed by finding out about Sharlene. But I can also see that Josie as a Frame being involved with Matthew would have different stakes for Rachel and Sharlene than Cheryl being involved with Scott. I do think the solution for Cheryl would have had to be a badder boy than Scott -- either a real bad boy who would do her wrong, or the kind of bad boy (not Chad!!!) who is essentially misunderstood and other people just don't understand. Cheryl would also have been better off with some friends her own age. Matthew and Josie benefited a bit from having other teenagers to interact with.
    • Sally Spencer was a decent actress, but the writing destroyed the "M.J." that Kathleen Layman had built. Layman had a quiet strength about her, and she and Osburn really felt like sisters. Spencer's character should have been either an unmentioned sister, or maybe Jake's that grew up close to Kathleen, M.J. and the rest, but was away for a few years before joining the force. Kristen Marie was o.k., but I always got a mousier vibe from her. Being pigeon-holed with Scott for most of the run hurt things for her, as well.  The Loves were also underserved between Rhonda Lewin and Philece Sampler. Philece would have been better as Nicole. Thank goodness Anne Heche  showed up for the next round of auditions. Christopher Holder was mediocre as Peter, but given a shot, I think Marcus Smythe could have stuck around for a while.  I would have had Peggy Lazarus be a Frame -- possibly an ex-wife for Vince with an agenda. Smythe and Hollen had  a fun chemistry that could have kept the two around.. Bringing recasts for  Cheryl and Ben back mixing it up with other Frames. Corys, Lawrences at the time might have kept all the families stronger.
    • shoot...he said in that Locher room with Krista. I think he met her before that---she was doing Broadway and they had mutual friends or an agent maybe?
    • Yes. And I assume he met Mary Ellen Stuart at GL.
    • That's an odd coincidence. Yeah, Roger would turn anything he could to his advantage. At the time, he's just taking the pictures to bank leverage over Reva, Billy or the Lewises.  I'm kinda squeamish about 1986 episodes myself. I'd love to hear the original version of Ross/Vanessa/Dinah, but the Cain story is bad, and I don't want Billy and Vanessa to break up.
    • Eeek. I didn't know this either! I will say, though, even though they skimmed over a lot of Roger's past, I will give them props for not trying to turn him into a hero. Yeah, I was hoping we would get more 1986 episodes than were available on YT before, but now I'm wondering if I really want to see that.
    • That's what Julie Hanan Carruthers is doing for BTG at the new studio in Atlanta, but JHC is credited. And @errol said JHC is working in a nonproduction capacity at Y&R.
    • I remember when the whole Missy Reeves controversy started in 2012.  She tweeted support of a business that had made homophobic statements. Greg Rikaart (who was on Y&R back then) publicly called her out on it, but was willing to reach out and speak with her. Article here: https://greginhollywood.com/greg-rikaart-talks-about-his-twitter-war-with-fellow-soap-star-melissa-reeves-over-anti-gay-chick-fil-a-73139 That being said, ten years later, on DAYS, in 2022, when they had they double wedding of Leo/CraigWesley and Gwen/Xander, Jack and Jennifer came to the wedding.  At that time, Missy Reeves was only intermittently available for DAYS. Jennifer was living "in Boston" and Cady McClain and Missy were each intermittently appearing as Jennifer, on the specific occasions when the show required a Jennifer to appear. Missy wasn't on contract and she could have said no. But she chose to appear as Jennifer for the gay wedding of Greg Rikaart's character.   So... I mean... I would assume they reached a détente behind-the-scenes. Missy still has her belief system but there's that.
