January 19, 200917 yr Administrator Discuss here! I'm so pumped for this historical event! Anyone know the time, on Tuesday, when it's going to happen?
January 19, 200917 yr Member Anyone know the time, on Tuesday, when it's going to happen? http://www.delawareonline.com/article/2009...EWS02/901180346 Festivities begin at 10 a.m, and include musical selections -- Aretha Franklin is slated to perform -- an invocation, swearing-in of the president and vice president, the inaugural address, a benediction and the playing of the national anthem, according to the Presidential Inaugural Committee's Web site. Joe Biden will be sworn in at about 11:45 by Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. Obama will be sworn in at noon. He will take the oath of office using President Lincoln's inaugural Bible, administered by Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts. Obama will then escort George W. Bush to a departure ceremony and go to a luncheon in the Capitol's Statuary Hall. Edited January 19, 200917 yr by Y&RWorldTurner
January 20, 200917 yr Member Thanks, Alvin. I'll be able to watch it live then. Yay! It is going to be on at 3.00 am AEST and I am going to get up to watch. I don't know whether it was intentional or not but our cable channel is showing Root's this week.
January 20, 200917 yr Member I read this at another board. Rosa sat.......so Martin could walk. Martin walked........so Barack could run. And Barack ran........so all of our children can fly. God Bless our new President, our new Vice-President, their familes, this nation........ And the citizens of the world.
January 20, 200917 yr Author Administrator Rosa sat.......so Martin could walk. Martin walked........so Barack could run. And Barack ran........so all of our children can fly. Wow, I love that! I saw on the news that many Canadians are having Obama parties tomorrow and some movie theatres will be showing the inauguration. Not only are Americans excited for tomorrow, but people all around the world are.
January 20, 200917 yr Member The familes are now in the White House. A sea of Americans in the National Mall. America. Wow.
January 20, 200917 yr Member And then our long national nightmare will be over. I pray you are right. Sorry but Obama is gonna have to prove himself to me. Been burned by too many President's, to just give Obama the benefit of the doubt
January 20, 200917 yr Member It's kinda weird the the First President Bush and President Clinton have become good friends over the past couple of years.
January 20, 200917 yr Member I pray you are right. Sorry but Obama is gonna have to prove himself to me. Been burned by too many President's, to just give Obama the benefit of the doubt More than anything you have ever said before I agree with all of that. Esp this: "been burned by too many Presidents" This will be the 9th President in my lifetime and there is not one of them that didn't let me down. You add in the Senators and Representatives and Governors and it gets really really bad. There have only been 2 State and National Politicians in my lifetime that when they left office I felt better about them being there than I did when they came in. So call me jaded but not only with Presidents but I don't give any of them the benefit of the doubt.
January 20, 200917 yr Member It's kinda weird the the First President Bush and President Clinton have become good friends over the past couple of years. I think when they take the politics out, and get personal, they can become friends. I wouldn't doubt if Bush and Obama are friends.
January 20, 200917 yr Author Administrator The crowd is massive!!! What did they say to expect, 3-5 million people? Wow.
January 20, 200917 yr Member I pray you are right. Sorry but Obama is gonna have to prove himself to me. Been burned by too many President's, to just give Obama the benefit of the doubt Oh, I voted for him and he still has to show me he won't get in there and act like a damn fool. But, unlike others, I appreciate to day, as do the millions standing out in the Mall right now and watching around the world. If he does a good job, he deserves credit. If he [!@#$%^&*] up, I'll be the first to vote him out........ But, I'm giving him a damn chance first.
January 20, 200917 yr Member I have never seen a scene like this in my lifetime. How many people are there right now?!
