Members DaytimeFan
Total agreement there. I would be surprised if she fired Cwikly since she 'took one for the team' and went Fi Core back when MAB first stormed into Y&R and shafted that hack bitch from the depths of hell LML. Members Y&RWorldTurner
She's a good scriptwriter, and has great breakdown experience and history with AMC. Some things outweight the negative. I, in no way, support her awful stance on the unabortion story and her horrid reasoning for why it was good. Members Sylph
But thank God we have a PhD writer instead of a secretary.
Members brimike
Whether she agreed with it or not is personal opinion, and probably would influence my thoughts on her (and the kinds of stories she'd like to tell) were she head writer. But as a script writer, it's all about the voices - and I was always really impressed with her dialogue. She can like stories I despise, and hate the stories I treasure most - doesn't matter to me, as long as she writes amazing dialogue that is specific to each of the characters. Members Sylph
I have to say I totally agree with brimike. She's just on fire in the dialogue department. And she seems like a "I take no sh!t" person so that's a gigantic plus.
Members dm.
I know. That's why I'm a bit sketchy on who she would fire. Salmons is doing an okay job. Beall obviously isn't going anywhere, nor is Hamner. Maybe Gibson? Or Kanelos/Milstein? The firings will probably include those that didn't survive the trial period. Members detroitpiston
God, I had forgotten all about the bolded. Why did you have to bring them up?
Members Kubla Khan
And that, sadly, more than likely motivated B&E to get rid of her after the strike. Oh well, at least she's back.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Hopefully, Karen Lewis can come back too, though doubtful. If she's happy in retirement, then all the best to her.
Members Kubla Khan
And if she's not happy in retirement, chances are she'll get a trial run on Y&R by the end of the year.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Actually, pretty strange that most of the people B&E got rid of after the strike haven't been scooped up yet, they were all pretty distinguished. Lewis and Patrick (until now that is) go without saying, but I'm surprised Stephen Demorest hasn't joined any show yet. He's had experience with breakdowns, scripts, editing, and head writing. I've always loved his work (you know I love my late 80's/early 90's GL writers!).
Members Sylph
I support her decision to confront B&E 100%. She knows what she wants and I guess has a certain reputation in the business so she can say "no" without a certain amount of hesitation.
Members Kubla Khan
Lewis wasn't a victim of the 'strike' - she left the show a few months before the strike started. I think Stephen Demorest had the misfortune of having his contract expire during the strike - and wasn't asked back when they were downsizing the writing team (my speculation). I believe he's 60 years old now, and perhaps he prefers to relax with his wife and kids. I certainly wouldn't blame him for stepping out of daytime if he pleases - he's been through enough shows, working alongside enough egos!
Members brimike
I'd love to see Stephen back at a show. I do think it may be a money issue. That's just my speculation - I know nothing. But Stephen might not be willing to work for scale again, as his salary over the years has to be up there. I'd love to see him back somewhere though - I selfishly hope he doesn't go the way of Hal Corley and Lorraine Broderick. Although who knows - maybe they're a lot happier being as far away from daytime as possible? LOL!
Members dragonflies
Michelle Patrick can't do any worse under Pratt than under McTavish............... Hopefully she can help with the writing inconsistencies when it comes to the characters, and maybe she can get it through Pratt's head that he can't just make up his own time line for things, especially when it doesn't gel with what was seen and said onscreen
