Examiner.com is reporting that Eva Marcille has joined The Young and the Restless permanently.

According to sources, Eva’s work on the Emmy-award winning soap impressed the writers so much they decided to develop her character for future storylines.

Yeah, Eva was on contract, maybe they had only done a short term thing and are extending it.

I don't get the new character line though.

she probably will be paired with Neil because the writers are too chicken [!@#$%^&*] to give African Americans stories outside their own bubble. You can't tell me Neil is unusable look at all the years of stories he's had. He's a legacy character and he has connections that should be strengthened, not used as a prop for new characters that come on. A Karen/Neil/Tyra love triangle is boring as hell because we really don't care about Karen or Tyra, plus it just weakens Neil's already cardboard-thin character. Karen seems like a forced good person... like omg she's so sweet she's so nice to everyone all the time omg. it's too much to swallow. Haven't seen as much of Tyra, but she could be an interesting character. The show needs a feisty lead African American female to be NuDru... cause it'll be a cold day in hell before VR is allowed back on there. She's a loose cannon. Not a good voice for the dying genre of soaps... they gotta keep their people in check and their images squeaky clean... united front, dont want the network to start thinking these shows are more trouble than they're worth.

I actually don't see Tyra as a 'New Dru'...I see her more as a jealous psycho who will scheme her way into Neil's bed. True, Karen is a forced saint and Neil is about as three dimensional as a piece of paper, but he's always been like that. Injecting Tonya Lee Williams deeper into the story would really jazz things up. Hopefully that's why she's back because MAB has to know that the African American angle of the show is super weak.

Tyra along with Liv is the most interesting Winters/xyz right now for me. I might in the very minority but I care for Tyra and Gil and find them rootable as an obstacle before Tyra kicks out Karen who is then kicked out when Dru returns. LOL!

I like Tyra. I just don't like Tyra in a romantic capacity with Neil. If they would start throwing her in scenes with character her age like Nicholas, Sharon, JT, Victoria, etc. I think everything would be great.

I just don't want to see a Neil and Tyra romance. I don't get a romantic vibe from their scenes. I see more of Neil protecting Tyra as an older brother. Not a love interest.
