Tuned out of the news for the weekend... for mental health reasons and to enjoy the nice summer-like weather. Best decision EVER.

This is great! thank you for posting.

It's Senator Chris Murphy detailing Tr*ump and M*sk corruption and their strategy to "normalize" corruption.
Somehow Sen. Murphy got 28 minutes of Senate floor time to speak.

This is a detailed and professional presentation.

I recommend watching this because it's a way to learn the information without having to watch the awful Tr*mp and M*sk on your screen, and without having newcasters giving their emotional clickbait spin.
Just facts, presented clearly and yet it's truly a wake-up --
It has info I hadn't paid attention to, due to being inundated with all the other  chaos in the U.S. government recently.

The topic is the financial corruption of M*sk and Tr*mp blatantly stealing money and accepting bribes for influence.
This information has (understandably) gotten lost inside the other gazillion horrific things the US government is currently doing.

In my youth, in the 1970s, I did protests, and we underwent civil disobedience training. We were asked to do the training before protesting, so that we could truly understand what might happen, and decide individually for ourselves in advance, what might happen to me or my loved ones if I'm arrested or trampled or beaten.  They suggested that even if you plan to only do protest marching - but weren't going to do active civil disobedience activities to get arrested -- that it might help to do the civil disobedience training anyhow.  So I did take the training class, to learn.

Some training was how to reason with counterprotesters and how to reason with rational police, but they also gave training on how to assess danger and when to walk/run away for safety.

It seems like there's much less protest skill nowadays.  Just social media telling you to go be trendy and march and yell.
And also now there's much more violent counterprotesters and emboldened police.  It feels more like the early 60s now.

Essay about Civil Disobedience training and how it is passed down through the generations, from one of the organizers from Ferguson, who recently visited Selma at the 60th anniversary of March 7, 1965.

Military officials from more than 30 nations will take part in Paris talks on the creation of an international security force for Ukraine, a French military official said Monday.
(to take place Tues March 11, 2025)

Such an international force would aim to dissuade Russia from launching another offensive after any ceasefire in Ukraine comes into effect.

The long list of participants in Tuesday’s discussions will also include Asian and Oceania nations that will join remotely,

I started to post something here but... it's all so awful.
All the political news is difficult enough to read about.  Don't have the strength to post it after reading it.

Schumer has announced he has caved and will vote for cloture and let the Trump budget go through with the usual rationales Dems have floated to accommodate Republican hostage-taking for 20+ years - we can't let the GOP shut down the government, they'll be more inclined to deal later, etc. Which is delusional in this environment AFAIC. The vote is tomorrow morning.

When even distinct non-radicals like Susan Rice or Neera Tanden are pissed about this, you've gone too far. I have listened to excuses for this grudging equivocation to Republican shutdown threats for decades and understood it at other times even when I didn't like it. But I think ol' Chuck has badly underestimated voter anger against the very weak Dem approach to things atm, thinking it will swing back to being business as usual, and it's time for him (and a lot of other people) to go from leadership. That is going to be messy as fúck, but this kind of weak way forward can't go on.

Oh, the ping pong paddles at the SOTU were idiotic too BTW.
