Really? Baker has proven to be completely inept in the role of Babe Carey. I can't imagine being surprised that her performance was about as charasimatic as a dead corpse.

I think the real shocker was Young who has plummeted so much in the acting department in such a short period of time.

I don't really watch All My Children, but from a production and writing standpoint, I expected better. The writing for Bobbie Eakes was especially weak too, and that line about Babe's death making her seem "non-existent" was in poor taste to me on so many levels.

I love Eakes regardless, I think she and Little Adam may be the only characters I feel sorry for in this entire storyline. Sadly Baker and her soulless performances have killed all the heart Babe once had. I see Charles Pratt did me a favor by giving her a mercy killing compared to the lobotomized cariacture version of Babe that Baker interpreted.

I think this could be a really good thing in general though. It may very well push Jabe into being the "super couple" many people wanted them to be with the whole death thing and I think JR should leave to California with Little Adam.

I am always the one preaching to give recasts a chance. And I still stand by that but shows also need to learn that when you have a recast who the fans are still trying to get used to and in the case when the recast can't act - you do not try to get them to be the pivotal part of a big story.

I like Babe as much as I do Kendall and Greenlee which is alot - I am just tired of all 3 of them and need a break. If Alexa had still been in the role in this instance I could have felt more for Babe. But the scenes were so weak. When she was crying out for them to save her son over her, poor Baker couldn't even emote any feeling at all. And I was just left feeling nothing and that was supposed to be a dramatic moment. But it just all fell flat. This is one time when I saw a recast was wrong for this story.

I wish AMC had cut Baker before this and just tried to woo Havins back to send Babe off. It would have made the scenes more poignant. It was just way too soon for a heart felt death scene when the onscreen rapport had not been built between any of the parties yet. I didn't even feel bad when I saw Krystal sitting there stroking her hair and then holding her. I kept having to remind myself that those 2 women had been everything to one another always but I just couldn't buy it from looking at the 2.

That is truely a tragedy seeing those relationships die like that in such a way. I remember how much chemistry Havins and Eakes had as well as how much Babe loved and longed for Little Adam. Alexa gave all of herself to those relationships and truely put her heart and soul to support those foundations in her character. It was always sad to see those relationships and those layers of Babe's character stripped away but what you just said just further shows how that truely wasn't Babe. We've seen Babe fight for Little Adam and we've seen how much she loved her son and her mother and that is something Baker couldn't even begin to imitate let alone emote.

    • Heffa? Girl, bye? MONA!!!!!!!!!!! I'm rolling.
    • It was just inexcusable. SMH. I'm surprised Lisa Brown didn't change it somehow.
    • So many things would have had to be different for Mary to want to go back to Reginald. It could have been interesting if it had been handled completely differently but as it was we had a very black and white Mary good/Reginald bad. If she had been able to ignore his worldly crimes and how he treated his own children there was still the fact that he had separated her from her children. Maybe if they had shown us more intimacy and affection between them and had allowed him to have real vulnerabilities it could have worked but as it played out they didn't do much to present him with any sympathetic hook. There are a lot of ways to define wanting things to work. Fans are mostly thinking of preserving or restoring characters and an atmosphere that drew them to the show. The sponsor may only be thinking of the bottom line. When a producer or HW comes in and decides that their vision will deliver for the bottom line and they need to fire most of the cast in order to do it it can feel very much like not caring.
    • I remember this getting a lot of criticism at the time.
    • Maeve breaks me reading that letter. If you ever need to cry, look it up. Other than the dopey line about Henry wanting to come home to Van's rice (or tapioca) pudding (VANESSA CHAMBERLAIN DOES NOT COOK, Y'all...) it's a sweet sign-off to one of the best father/daughter relationships on soaps. Other than Ross, and Bill (if he says something, which I assume he does) and the letter, the rest of it is BS. I haven't watched it in a while, but it typifies what I dislike most about events that should be laden in history. The writers are too lazy to do the work and get it right. And it becomes about making sure characters X, Y and Z make their guarantees. Roger being there is an abomination. Henry never ever saw Nola as a gold-digger. She and Quint were practically engaged before he even knew Quint was his son. Before that, he was fairly close to Bea and enjoyed Nola's spirit. And Henry never helped Rick become an Eagle Scout.  I get that maybe you don't want to play Amanda#1 or Dinahs 1&2, or Billy, Trish or Alan #1 clips, but damn it....don't make stuff up. I'd have much rather watched clips from Henry, Vanessa and Ross' early days than Rick blather on, or nuMichelle try and dig for a human-like emotion or wonder why after TEN YEARS, Dinah and Quint have never met.   Do not remember anyone named Tina. I barely remember Dahlia, and that's mostly because for a while, I saw Sharon Leal in everything after she left GL.   Reva and Josh airhogs? ALWAYS, darling. ALWAYS. RME. I hate to tar and feather Robert Newman with that brush, but DAMN.
    • Oooooooooooooo a Jazmen script off of a Sara Bibel breakdown.    I'm intrigued. Lol. Yeah, one thing I can say for sure...when SilkPress is about to have a crazy moment, they do give her music.
    • I am so happy now. Reminds me of the 80s show I loved. Ron really did the cast and fans dirty. The only people complaining are those who only knew Ron and his whiplash plot driven stories
