GH's Rick Hearst (Ric) has re-inked a new deal and will "continue with us for the foreseeable future," confirms a show spokesperson. Hearst's status had been a question mark for the last several months. In July, he told Digest, "I've got three months left on my contract and we'll see if it's in the minds of our creators if I'll get a chance to go further. It would be nice." Rumor has it that a treacherous romance with Claudia (Sarah Brown) lies ahead for Ric. "It is not our policy to comment on storylines," reminds the spokesperson.

This sucks. I was hoping GH's declining fortunes might lead to a revamp and a new direction, but here we are with the same characters that helped ruin the show be re-signed and paired with equally poor characters that just continue the nihilistic, hearltess direction this show loves so.

My condolences to Rick... He should have gone to a new show where his talents would be much more appreciated.

Foreseeable on GH might mean a few months. I remember when Lindzee Leatherman resigned for a short time, they said that also and BOOM Georgie was dead in 3 months. I am always weary of announcements like this when they fail to mention the duration of the contract. When Kelly Monaco signed last, they said she signed for 2 years. Yet Ric's no mention of his contract duration. If the rumor is that someone else dies during GH sweeps(apparently each sweeps they do needs a death or shooting), I'll bet it's Ric that gets bumped off.

For Ric's sake I hope he gets killed off and leaves this horrid show. He's too good for it anyway.

As a Quartermaine fan of this show who stopped watching ages ago, ICAM. Even the wonderful Genie's Francis's brief stint has not tempted me to tune back in and Laura is my alltime favorite character on GH.

He should've gotten out when he had the chance. I don't think Guza has anything remotely interesting planned for him.

Dammit he should have left. Guza is all talk and he is not going to write a storyline for Ric.....

I'd love to see what Rick Hearst could do on OLTL, mixing it up with Tina, Dorian, Blair, Marty, etc. I think he'd be really good on that canvas.

I read this clurb as if he signed a short-term contract. Kinda of like "to be killed in November or Febuar Sweeps" kind of contract...

RH deserves better anyway. He should either return to Gl or to B&B where he was wasted back in the day but nonetheless was dynamite with KKL.

He had better chemistry with Rebecca, IMO.
