KL never had the best looking sets or wardrobe - that honor, of course, goes to DYNASTY - but episodes from the late '80's and early '90's can be depressing to watch, as everything gets doused in pastels to make up for the fact that they're cutting costs.

Onto "The Unraveling" -- It's interesting that the writers had Gary tell Val about his wanting to marry Jill before the two ladies actually have had a scene together. I mean, Val knows who Jill is, and back in Season Seven, Jill watched Val confront Gary about giving Empire Valley to the twins. I suppose Jill and Val could have interacted off camera at some point (like that party in Season Seven where Abby came clean-ish to everybody), but now I'm seriously wondering just when Jill and Val's first on camera interaction is. If it's not until "Noises Everywhere," I'm going to be annoyed.

Today in other annoyances: Who spells it "Petie" rather than "Petey"?

By this point, even when they cast actors who presumably cost some coin (like Peter Reckell fresh off his biggest DAYS run or Sam Behrens not long after his well-received GH run) the show did a terrible job with them.

True. Simply put, the Lechowicks never wrote from character. They were more concerned with being unpredictable.

And that often made no sense...Reckell was set up to fail with that awful accent alone, although lacking chemistry with Nicolette Sheridan didn't help.

(admittedly I think Bill Devane was the only one who had chemistry with her)

I felt the same way about Sam Behrens (minus the accent, of course). It was bad enough that he was a charm-free actor whose character would've been deadly dull if not for the fact that he was a vicious psychopath. He also shared zero chemistry with Joan Van Ark, making Val's insistence that she loved Danny more than she loved either Gary or Ben even more ridiculous than it sounded already.
