September 9, 200817 yr Member Terrible! And I'm sure a regular staff writer for Y&R makes a hell of a lot more money than a Co-HW at GL.
September 9, 200817 yr Member Oh, crap. Don't care about fabulous things he did on GL back when Bush 1 was in the WH. I just think about the last year of Santa Barbara and "Reva Walker" eating the show alive... and I seethe. The idea of Y&R + blinding lighting makes me queasy. Edited September 9, 200817 yr by Cat

I just think about the last year of Santa Barbara and "Reva Walker" eating the show alive and Rauch's later nasty comments about the Dobsons... and I seethe. The idea of Y&R + blinding lighting makes me queasy. ha. i know you are going to murder me for this but... the only time i ever liked SB was when the Zimmer was on it. and Newman of course. And its NOT because im a JEVA fanboy. lol....
September 9, 200817 yr Member With a strong writer, he does wonders. His period with Harding Lemay surely enters the Top 3 best soap opera periods ever. With Maria... It might spell trouble. I'm just trying to rile you up, but it's interesting that you say that despite most of his eras since being overlit campy messes (that did do well in ratings) to outright messes with no thougth to writing--yet you often dont' seem to think other soap execs and writers who have had great first periods and then flop eras since deserve much of a chance I admit--this is a strange fit but I agree with Sylph--it's not surprising to anyone paying attention. I do wonder if this means Y&R will give up for good its infamous dimly lit "mood" look. ha. i know you are going to murder me for this but... the only time i ever liked SB was when the Zimmer was on it. and Newman of course. And its NOT because im a JEVA fanboy. lol.... How much SB have you seen? I always thought youw er eyounger than me. I admit I think I'd love the early years when it was known for its classic, high quality theatrical writing that often was clever campy (before JER ruined campy soaps for us all )
September 9, 200817 yr Member Also, now I have more faith that Y&R's upcomming Paris shoot will actually come off nice on screen, OLTL did a few location shoots in the 80's under Rauch that were well done... Yep the OLTL location shoots went off really well on screen (even if some were apparantly disasters off screen--Bo had one with a leading lady in Paris that the 40th anniversary OLTL book says was a disaster with the actors havign to do their own makeup, hating each other, etc)

I have five eight hour tapes full i bought off the internet that is just random. One tape is from around the start of the show. Another one is all Eileen Davidson era episodes. One is the final epsiodes, and two are very Kim Zimmer centric. I seen Robert Newmans episodes via youtube. I am far from able to really go in depth on SB but ive seen more thna bit but not a lot.
September 9, 200817 yr Member ha. i know you are going to murder me for this but... the only time i ever liked SB was when the Zimmer was on it. and Newman of course. And its NOT because im a JEVA fanboy. lol.... Yes it is! It is because you are a JEVA fanboy! And you adore Kim "There's NO bidness! Like SHOW bidness!" Zimmer! Repent! Different strokes for different folks. I loved the Capwells and SB from 1984-1991. Rauch could have been a good EP... if only he'd had his own soap. Which is what he clearly seemed to be turning SB into. A brand-new show. Edited September 9, 200817 yr by Cat

LMAO! ok, so im a jeva fanboy. and i love kim zimmer. and lust robert newman. that doesnt mean i have a bias at all!!!
September 9, 200817 yr Member haha Fair enough I think Rauch has always wanted his own show--he was largely behind the Lemay For Richer for Poorer/Friends and Lovers, and had been fighting hard to do a show set in antebellum southern USA when NBC made him do Texas instead...
September 9, 200817 yr Member Oh, man. I just had an awful thought. KZ... as Gloria's sister. Rauch also loved Laura Wright, didn't he? *wakes up in cold sweat*

The Zimmer on Y&R?! as Judith Chapmen's sister? and im sure Laura can come in as... isk.. the youngest sisters. My head is pounding just thinking about the shreik-off between Chapman, Zim and Wright. DEAR GOD MAKE IT STOP. The only thing that calms me is that Y&R loves the vets it already has right now and isn't really ready to start adding a whole lot of female newbies. Plus KZ keeps dropping hints about returning to OLTL. Yeah, you go, girl! Go be Echo. And Guza and Frons have a hard-on for LW's Carly. So, phew! Hopefully crisis averted. Sweet jaysus. I love Y&R -- an awful lot. But Snarly in particular would drive me away. Edited September 9, 200817 yr by Cat

DEAR GOD MAKE IT STOP. If i had my laptop right now you would see the most amazing banner with ziimer.chapmen/wright with the Y&R logo over it all. and i wuv you cat.
September 9, 200817 yr Member Oh I love Zimmer. But if she came to Y&R, all the attention would go to her, just like it was when she came to Santa Barbara. And I HATED it! UGH! That better not repeat itself on Y&R!
