Probably because she got a call from Steve Mosco or LPB or BBJr saying that the tide was turning against LML and that something needed to be said to puts fans at ease...believe it or not, Sony is aware of the internet fanbases and does actually pay attention to them somewhat.

Jeanne, like everyone who has gone ten or more years at Y&R, is a team player and says what needs to be said by order of TPTB. Additionally, Jeanne did not like what Jack Smith wrote for her, she hated the Kay is Jill's mother storyline.
