Members Y&RWorldTurner
^I've heard OF him, but I wouldn't know his work if I heard it, since I'm only a very lax follower of the Indian film industry and do not understand any Hindi or any of the regional Indian languages. Members Dan
A few weeks ago, I bought the 1998-ish soundtrack to ER. It's great. Lots of wonderful Marty Davich piano scores along with the usual frenetic ER music.

Administrator Toups Posted February 7, 2009 Administrator Share Posted February 7, 2009 I was that person. I haven't seen Ratatouille but yeah, Michael Giacchino's music is very recognizable. Glad to see another MG fan. I love this piece from Season 1. It's such a beautiful piece. It starts at the 5 minute mark. Members Y&RWorldTurner
I've always been a huge admirer of Michel Legrand's work. Even though I wasn't alive when he was probably at the peak of his career, I've come to appreciate his work over the years. I recently got a free copy of the Yentl DVD and I only watched because of Legrand's Oscar winning scoring. This guy is bloddy brilliant. I only wish there was a whole album devoted to the Yentl compositions without Streisand's singing (though very heartfelt and beautiful). Too bad not a lot of his stuff is on YouTube, especially from Yentl. I was only able to find medlies, which don't each of the unique songs enough justice. Here's a video with fellow composer and legend, John Williams, conducting the orchestra, and Michel Legrand playing the piano to Legrand's songs from Yentl. Here's another medley video with the songs from Yentl, this time with a more string-centered arrangement, very beautiful. Legrand is probaby best known for his Oscar winning scoring for Summer of 72, and his song The Summer Knows would eventually become a popular standard. Here it is: Anyone who LOVES piano driven scores will probably LOVE this. Administrator Toups Posted February 7, 2009 Administrator Share Posted February 7, 2009 I first heard this piece in "No Reservations" and thought it was by Philip Glass since he was the composer of the film, but it's actually Mark Isham's music from "Life As A House".
