I believe they were step-sisters. Louise's father Winston married Sara's mother Mattie.

I can't say I'm the biggest The Edge of Night fan but I really liked the use of music in this last episode posted. I also thought the use of the Christmas decorations was a great way to revisit the past. That whole sequence in the Karr house was pretty fascinating. The set seemed very small, but the conversation gave such depth and dimension to the home talking about the kitchen and the "infamous" decision to dump the twin beds for a full. I've seen Linda Cook mostly in her more animated role as Egypt Masters on Loving and in some throw away parts as the mother of schemers on One Life to Live and Guiding Light. She is very effective as Laurie even though she's been gone for several years.

Am I reading correctly that Laurie's return wasn't for just the finale but that the plan had been to bring her back before cancellation was announced and that there was a longer story planned? I was a bit surprised that Mike Karr let his grandson off his radar enough that he was unaware of where his whereabouts was, but I guess that generated better story.

The Sky / Raven and Mark / Michelle stuff does little for me. I like the use of Pachibel's Canon in their scene (I think it was their scene) as I was just talking about Ordinary People in the Another Life thread. Christopher Holder and Sharon Gabet would be involved again on Another World in the following year, correct?

A lot of the newer female actresses female a bit green. And I felt Larkin Malloy overplayed some things but maybe Sky was just suppose to be an over the top character.

Didi's law partner Marty who was mentioned is the Native American man from a story earlier in the fall correct?

I LOVED Robert Gerringer's early work on Texas under the Corringtons. Del seems colorful, but I think the Gerringer has so much more range that I hope was utilized.

I wish they hadn't taken several weeks to get Laurie Ann back in the house and with her family, but these are beautiful moments, and I'm glad the show honored its history to some degree amidst this very jumbled end run. I could swear Forrest Compton is genuinely near tears at one point.

With all new people running the show, it did surprise me that they mined TEON's history. I figured TPTB would just ignore it. Hearing the names Mattie, Winston , Sarah-Louise and Capice made me feel nostalgic and verklempt. Laurie Ann was just a young child when I became acquainted with this soap, so these scenes made me feel like I was being reunited with old friends; friends I would soon never see again.

Mattie's death was referred to on-screen in the early 1970s, and we saw Winston and Mike at the wake. Winston's passing went unobserved completely (as I recall) a few years later. Phil, Louise and Sarah-Louise all left town, alive and well. Louise was the last to go. Her final scene was saying farewell to Nancy in the Karr living room.

TEON is not one of the soaps I talk about a lot of this board, but I really did love it for about 20 years.

I have now saved this episode. It was such a treat. I don't want to lose it again.

From seeing 1970s episodes online and live back in the day, I recollect that the Karrs had a kitchen and dining room at one point. They may have even had a patio. If I’m not mistaken, I think Laurie’s ex Johnny disappeared with John Victor. It was nice to see Laurie state that JV was nine years old, meaning he wasn’t SORASed.

Yes, Marty Stillwater was Didi’s law partner. He first appeared during the Isis storyline in 1983 and then moved on to a strange story with his grandfather Standing Elk in early 1984.

As I recollect, Del was not a fan favorite. During Sharon Gabet’s Edge watch parties on Facebook, viewers hated the character. They especially hated seeing him in a relationship with Geraldine. I much preferred Gerringer in his roles on Texas and The Doctors.

I remember the Capice's leaving the show, but I don't remember the details. In fact, all these years I thought they just disappeared, rather than moving-away on camera. I do remember one scene that began with Nancy standing at her front door saying good-bye to Louise. But the audience saw Louise only from the back as she walked away. Louise didn't have any lines. I believe that was technically Louis's final scene, even though the actress (Mary K Wells) was not present. I could be wrong about that.

Since Phil Capice left a year before Louise, was Phil said to be still in Monticello, but just not on-screen? Or did he have a good-bye scene when Ray MacDonald left? I always believed Ray MacDonald left EON because he was cast in a much larger role on All My Children. But if your dates are correct, that is probably not the case.

One thing I've noticed about EON is there were an unusual number of adopted children, and relatively few pregnancies. Certainly fewer pregnancies than other 30-minute soaps. That seemed to change in the later years of the show. Perhaps TPTB thought having characters pregnant for 9-months prevented them from being involved in the action (murder, crime, mysteries), and that the audience might be uncomfortable seeing a pregnant woman being involved with that kind of danger. I'm just speculating here.
