Ashley Jones just doesn't have that fierceness and rawness that Jennifer Finnigan had. When they try to give her a backbone, she comes off as a little girl trying to act like a grown woman. I think they try to write Bridget to match Jones' strengths, but its just working. Jones is so miscast in this role, and they refuse to write the character as anything but a doormat.

ITA.

As someone who's only recently watched Jennifer Finnegan's run of Bridget (on DivaTV pace in the UK)...she really did suck. Ashley Jones is a MUCH stronger actor for the role, Finnegan ain't all that...she was bland and to be honest the Emily Harrison girl wasnt that much worse than Finnegan the way everyone makes it out. Jones is great as Bridget, it's just the writing sucks for the character, Bridget is whiny and such a doormat, it's hard to bring layers to such a one dimensionally written character.

Around the time she was fighting with Felicia over Dante.

I didnt even think she had a backbone then either. She was weak and scared to speak up and own her feelings. She did come across as someone strong and really to claim what she beleived was hers

She was also so juvenile and squeaky and just plain awful and sweet and terrible. Just terrible. Awful.
