August 26, 200817 yr Webmaster I'm pretty sure it's a West Coast show. JP, if you say GH is five-in-five, I believe you. I know B&B isn't five-in-four because they're only a half hour show... plus, she implies it's an hour show when talking about "other primetime dramas". Errol, all soaps put the next day's sets up overnight. It's just standard practice. That leaves GH, Y&R and Days, and something tells me a prime-time writer would be more willing to go visit the Y&R or GH sets than the Days set. But that's just me being snobby, I could totally eat those words. Boo, lol. I just notice it more at OLTL than AMC. AMC has the advantage of having a bigger studio though. OLTL is stuck in a small building in front of ABC Headquarters.
August 26, 200817 yr Member Coming from a person who is a total DOOL fan! Hey, I never said I thought Days was high art. And what about 4 directors? Don't all four West Coast soaps have four contract directors?
August 26, 200817 yr Author Member Don't all four West Coast soaps have four contract directors? I don't know.
August 26, 200817 yr Member Ah, Buffy and Angel. The memories are just making me take out the DVDs and watch again....
August 26, 200817 yr Member Ah, Buffy and Angel. The memories are just making me take out the DVDs and watch again.... I did that once the network TV season ended in May. Although I cheated and skipped Buffy: Season One. Sshh... don't tell.
August 26, 200817 yr Webmaster While those shows were great, what made them great was the overall WB experience, IMO. My gawd, I loved that network to pieces. The started to suck in 2001-2002, but it was 2003-2004 I just stopped watching.
August 26, 200817 yr Member Jane's too good to work on a soap. Her humor would get lost in translation and re-writes. Her episodes were some of my favorites with the Buffybot one being at the top.
August 26, 200817 yr Member Y&R and B&B tape 4 days a week now, and since there's a mention of an hour long show, I'm more inclined to say Y&R. I think GH is also tapes 4 days a week, but I'm not sure.

August 26, 200817 yr Member It could be GH. They go to a 4 day taping schedule during the summer. Last year during the first season of Night Shift, they shot the show on Friday's. I'm not sure how it's done this season. I don't even know when GH goes back to their 5 day a week schedule. *Edit: Saw Alvin already said this....adds more* Edited August 26, 200817 yr by Ryan
August 26, 200817 yr Member Soap Encyclopedia is here, people! But I thought you were the all knowing one? I think GH also tapes 4 days a week now, I've heard Kimberly McCullough and Jason Thompson say they tape GH from Monday to Thursday and then shoot Night Shift on Friday's.
August 26, 200817 yr Webmaster The four day a week thing as mentioned above is all year-round though, which GH supposedly only does in the summer. However, considering that GH does pre-tape Maurice and Steve scenes where they can get 2 weeks off, and you wouldn't notice, it is a definite possibility there are conflicting elements in this report so you never really know unless they are directly revealed.
August 26, 200817 yr Member Oh, the MischaBot! What wonderful memories of Barton's interchangeable happy/sad/angry face. Yes, I gave up after Crazy Oliver. Got back in when Ryan's hot as heck brother showed up. Tuned back out when the show became a parody of itself. Love Jane Espenson and the fact that she appreciates soaps (I suspect a lot of Buffy writers did). Thanks for posting this, Sylph. I am also mighty tempted by that ABC link...
August 26, 200817 yr Member While those shows were great, what made them great was the overall WB experience, IMO. My gawd, I loved that network to pieces. I was thankful for the WB because they kept the shows on longer than a "big" network woulda but otherwise I gotta disagree--nothing about what network they were on (even when Buffy switched to UPN--I was one of the few who loved Season 6 though 7 was a mess) or the "network experience" influ8enced my viewing--in my part of Canada we didn't even get the WB (we did get UPN--woot :S ) for some reason so I had to watch it later in the week on Canadian stations--didn't make me love the shows any less...

Season 6 was my favorite because it was the most adult. Plus with that much Naked Spike, how could they go wrong. Someo thought Buffy was out of character but I thought she just grew up.
