B&B: Week of July 28, 2008

It happened again with the ending of today's show. This time they used the quick zooms for an actual scene!! :o This is truly awful and you're right, B&B sold out to be like MTV shows.

See, if they're going to do it for the scene transitions, they MUST do it for the actual scenes...or the contrast is too glaring.

I'm actually okay with this modernization, as long as it filters through the whole show.

AND, if ever a show was in need of a young-ing down.....

I am impressed that this is being done quietly and fairly slowly. This guards against fan hackles being raised. THIS, in other words, is how you change a production model.

Hey y'all. Not a regular watcher of B&B, but thought I'd pop in here and get your feelings about something I read in SOW this week. If it's been covered before, I apologize. But I really didn't like the way this sounded. There's a blurb from John McCook about the changes on the show pertaining to music :

"But we are going to try and speed the show up; use faster cutting and editing techniques and contemporary music that bleeds over, the way primetime shows do. It's going to be fun to watch"

:o:o

Does this bother anyone?? I don't know if any of you watch GL, but they are using "contemporary" music now and it sucks. The thing I love about the Bell shows (and Y&R is getting back to it) is their classical music. Why are they trying to fix something that ain't broke?? I don't get it. Or do y'all look forward to this change?

Umm....it's not fun to watch, John McCook! I want the classic production model back! :(

I'm not against updating the look. I actually thought the end montage kind of worked (aside from showing a gratituous shot of Donna in her bikini...). But when I've got trouble remembering if I'm watching B&B or Bravo's Flipping Out, it's over kill.

I totally missed whatever Owen did. So he somehow caused Eric's stroke/coma? (Sigh...ATWT's Dr. Bob went through that twice in the past couple of years...) But I was pretty sure he was the one pawing through Donna's undies. So...my guess is, Owen will be screwing Felicia soon enough. Nothing like knowing your plan backfired and almost cost you your daddy.

I'm enjoying the production model. It has moments of so being a 90's Saturday morning sitcom, but for the most part, when a bit of self editing is used, it totally works for me. I did read Eric's comments, and I loved them--especially when he actually did make fun of GL's hand held cameras.

And I never thought I'd be there but I think I'm on team Donna in all of this. I'm LOVING Ridge finally getting some.

I know what Owen saying seems to make donna feel better or whatever. But she's to easy to believe in Owen.

She's easy, period!

I missed the bottle thing, too. But I totally think Owen was the one that trashed the house.

Wanna know when Marcus and Steffy are going to share their next kiss? Whenever Steffy starts to get really emotional, be prepared for Marcus to go in for the kill. LOL!

For the most part, I like the new look. Except when the music doesn't fit a scene.

I just hope they haven't phased out the classic music, which I'm afraid they have if they have this upbeat stuff in every transition.

^^^Drags you out of hiding to face the MUSIC! :P

I agree with you, it's tasteful and not overdone. Like you said, the only downside is when the direction does not flow with the scene.

These awkward Katie/Nick/Bridget moments are too much. Today there was the picture that Bridget gave Katie of Katie and Nick. Come ON. Bridget just keeps coming with these "gifts" that are just too weird.

And also, I don't think B&B was too over the top with the transitions and music today. I don't think I even noticed it after the opening shot. (Although that may mean I'm getting used to it :o )

Seriously is Bridget that "okay" with this. At least maybe if she were trying to throw it in Katie's face and/or test the both of them when she constantly throws them together. But I really think she is that clueless as to what is going on between Katie and Nick. Why doesn't she just light the candles and open the champagne for the two of them.

Then we have the whole Marcus/Donna/Owen situation. Owen has a agenda (personally like the whole bad boy thing), but why does no one question Marcus. Everyone has just accepted Marcus as Donna's son and the only proof we have is a birth certificate that I thought he got from Owen (could be wrong on that point). He is getting quite cozy with "mom" and feeling he can tell her what is right and wrong. Still something odd about his whole character as well.

I agree that nobody is really questioning Marcus. However, nobody is questioning Owen either. He's just so random. And there's really no proof to anything he says.

True no one is really questioning Owen as well. But the one person that was really starting the questioning Owen was Marcus. Just makes me wonder if they are actually working a con together and this is all part of the plan.
