What a great episode today.

They're really going all out to show Scarlett is a dumbass. I wish they would get rid of her, as I find her completely unnecessary. She doesn't add much to Jimmy and Carl and the actress is terrible.

Loved the Chas/Charity/Moira scene and then Betty telling Moira that Alan's daughter is a psychopath

Seems Liz might be falling for Bob. If that is the case, I only want this to happen if Bob feels the same way.

The cherry on top of the episode were the Viv/Hazel scenes. Seeing Viv happy made me smile.

You're lucky, Carl. I didn't watch as often as I wanted to at all, but whenever I did, I'd watch two or three in a row because I just loved the look and feel of the show.

I guess I better get on the ball with Prisoner because who knows what's gonna disappear next. Some old Corrie episodes have vanished as well :(

That sucks. I really don't know who those episodes are harming, and it's not like they're available to people in the US anyway, in terms of being able to rent or buy them.

I got up to around the time that Janey and Frank were getting married and Mr. Verney knew about his wife sleeping with Jack. I guess that's not too many episodes but I would have enjoyed seeing the last few. That era of the show is so fascinating and so well acted and written and has such a strong atmosphere.

Since you saw them do you think you could write a quick summary of what happened in the last 5-6 episodes? I think the last one I saw was not long after Jack got back from another trip to London and went to the statement on Trash's death.

I watched them a bit ago. But mostly, Jack signs Emmerdale Farm over to his family with Joe/Annie/Peggy/Wilks all getting a share. He chooses to just be a silent partner. Peggy has her baby. Alison and Wilks get engaged. And, the Sugdens find out Sharon was murdered and have a funeral for her.

Oh, and Trash's daughter (Penny) comes to town. She finds out of her dad's death in her second episode, I think. Joe takes a liking to her. The family fears history (Marian) will repeat itself as Jack flirts with her. Penny is a love all, hate nothing almost hippy like character. So Joe thinks he's lost out again, but she makes it clear to him that she likes him too. Then Jim Latimer returns to town. As Penny is now helping Jack fix up his place (the one where he let Trash live with him) Jim frequents it to help her.

Details are kind of sketchy for me now. I know Jim ends up trying to attack Peggy at one point but I forget if something more happens to her.

And the Verneys leave town together.

Hopefully someone will put a torrent up of the DVD's soon. I'll cross my fingers for you both.

    • Daphnee's performance very much reminded me of Anna Holbrook's on Another World when Sharlene was dealing with John and Felicia's affair. Angry but well controlled and believable. A good start for an Emmy reel. If there is one thing an evil Black mother is going to do, it is lock you out the house. Eva shouldn't have even bothered to go home.  Leslie calling Martin "Mr. President" was interesting. How much exactly does she know about the family and has someone higher up sent her to cause trouble? Anita's speech to Leslie was dignified like Geraldine Whitney (EON) or Kim Hughes (ATWT) would have gone off on somebody.
    • Thanks for posting this, fascinating read. It's clear how ambivalent Wyndham is about Justine. IMO, it reads like she agrees that the end of the storyline was bad, but reading between the lines I think she thought she was doing good work for the meat of it....which was not the case. As bad as the writing for most of that story was, it was truly made worse by her embarrassing performance. After the story concluded she kept falling back into Justine ticks, when she wasn't phoning he scenes in. Not to play Freud, but was it to tr*ll her critics?
    • I better hear "The Emmy goes to Ambyr Michelle" come Emmy time lol

    • I love this more than any theory I've seen yet
    • I wonder what Dana and Hayley's first scene will be like. Dana has fear/contempt for Bill, but I can imagine Hayley being curious to meet her.
    • Daphne was just FANTASTIC today. I know people wanted histronics and it may still come but she was pitch perfect today. As much as I like Maurice she's gonna need someone just as strong now and it's just not him
    • Today's episode was one of my favorites so far! TT's Anita standing up to Dana was perfect. I was surprised with how restrained Dani was, in some scenes, I forgot she was there. The ending "Amazing Grace" montage was brilliant. I like how Vernon's reason complements Anita's emotion. DD was terrific portraying her mixed sense of betrayal and humiliation. I liked her comment about how she condescended to Dani after her breakup with Bill, unaware that she was also married to a cheater. I am going to miss MJ as Ted and I don't agree with the criticisms of his acting. His conduct on social media is a different story. I agree that BC's Martin has come into his own. He and MM have also discovered some chemistry which allows them portray a believable couple. Eva is the most empathetic character for me. Seeing get locked out of the apartment was heartbreaking. I also liked that the writing for Kat has been much more nuanced than one might have expected just weeks ago. I liked the expression on Kat's face at the end when she was embracing Nicole. Kat has probably never seen her calm, poised mother so upset. CM's face portrayed a sense of discomfort now that the carer/child roles have been somewhat reversed. I believe now more than ever that Kat is Ted and Dana's child. Eva is Ted and Nicole's child. Dana switched them as insurance - if Bill came after her to take or harm Eva, Dana would reveal that Eva was actually a Dupree, giving her some protection. She would also be secure in the fact that her birth daughter Kat was ensconced in the privilege and security of the Dupree family. The way Dana raised Eva - "weaponizing" her instead of nurturing her as a loving mother - also aligns with this theory.
