July 7, 200817 yr Member Ah, crushes...so fleeting :-). Listen, if we're making admissions here, can I say I LOVED McTavish's Babe-Biance baby switch storyline...the one that involved Kelly on OLTL too. Loss of baby, hidden secrets, psychic connection to one's child....all culminating in that blessed Christmas reunion. This no longer seems to have anything to do with ratings...but I thought that was CLASSIC All My Children...nearly the whole canvas was involved in that story...it made clear that Bianca was the emotional core and lead ingenue of the show...just a perfect, perfect story IMO. I know McTavish is the "enemy" here, but that storyline was greatness IMO. I guess I'll have to look at that Wakefield book. Ok, I'll 'fess up. The Baby Switch is definitely one of my favorite AMC storylines. I thought, for once, that all the beats were played. It was all downhill after that.
July 7, 200817 yr Member Well, even Japanese anime tends to take on a soap-like format in terms of continuity and character development. In fact, the 2002 He-Man remake also went along the same line and it was a pity they didn't continue with it, but that's due to the lack of substantial promotion.

Japanese anime has some very good soaps. BTW, not anime, but influenced by it - has anyone watched Avatar: The Last Airbender?
July 7, 200817 yr Member Call me crazy (and I am sure someone will), but does anybody feel as if ATWT is getting a bit of its mojo back? I really enjoyed this last week. I think the replacement characters (Lily, Mike, etc) are finally starting to feel less strange. Although the Luke and Noah story has some REALLY bad writing around it - the reasons that they are not together leave me confused - it is something new every day and it always seems trivial?!?

Okay, you're crazy Nah, probably not, but I'm not loving it yet.
July 7, 200817 yr Member Maybe you could help me out there - What was it that happened between Carly and Jack to finally make Carly change her mind??? She had been obsessed with getting the relationship back for months, and then I tuned in and she was over it - and actually kind of mad with him.

The huge josei (bascially means written and aimed at college aged women) hit, Nana, in late night anime and manga form proves how well Japan has taken to some of the soap opera conventions--down to "who's the daddy" pregnancy scares. (episode one is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM-XYU-P5Gk ) Sorry--anime, particularly girls/womens anime and manga which is so obscure in N America but almost 50% of the market in Japan, is another obssession of mine SYlph I also love Avatar ANd am worried about M Night Shamalamamabalamas live action version

I couldn't get into Dragon Ball but loved Dragon Balls Z & after. I'm watching Bleach, Naruto, & One Piece. I think anytime you can couple off people it because a soap opera like. Especially with Bleach & Naruto.
