Anyone who thinks ATWT, GL or Days will be around in 2010 is sorely mistaken. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. But short of a miracle, you can pretty much kiss those three goodbye.

Probably, but the others wouldn't be far behind then. Their ratings aren't that much higher. And if that's the case, it'd be the end of an era.

In households?

Doubtful. Who is within range of dethroning it?

B&B....Y&R numbers are falling at an alarming rate!!

Yeah, you can pretty much say goodbye to AMC, OLTL and GH too. Only B&B and Y&R standing by 2012.

4.(6) B&B 1.2/783,000 (SAME/+8,000)

I'm really wondering about the HH points and how they're found.

Obviously that one demo doesn't control the HH number, but B&B was actually up in the 18-49 demo compared to last year, yet it's tied for low in HH.

About Y&R and B&B, the thing is, B&B has been this low before, but it hasn't been lately. So that means it was this low and then climbed back up to around 3. Y&R got that 3.4 record a few weeks ago.

CBS is in SOOOO much trouble.

Everyone one of them has tied their lows! B&B at 2.5! :o

Also I can see DAYS lasting longer then ATWT/GL.

ABC doesn't exactly have anything to brag about either. The only difference is ABC's fall happened before CBS', it's only recently did CBS see these sudden dramatic falls across the board.

But ABC also owns their soaps, so they'll keep all three around in some form as long as possible......likely longer than CBS probably renews Sony's Y&R.

The way I see it, not one soap will exist in 10 years. If CBS and NBC pull out of the soap business, ABC will likely do so as well. What's the point when your flagship soap can only muster up a 2.2 rating in households these days?

I dont see this happening at all. The ABC soaps lasting longer than Y&R?? I just dont see it.

EXACTLY!!!!!!

ABC will be the last to bow out, because that's all money that goes in their pockets. CBS is, for all intents and purposes, leasing. After awhile, it's not worth it. The ad revenue they bring in based on the demo's will be a lot less than the shows cost to produce.

The demos are all that matter in daytime, though, and Y&R is crashing in 18-34. If it continues its downward slide in households, I would expect the 18-49 demo to follow.

Y&R may still have a large audience, but most of their viewers, sadly, don't matter to advertisers. And because CBS doesn't own the show, ABC makes more money with GH's 1.4 and even OLTL's 1.3 than CBS makes with Y&R's 1.6 in the demo.

I want to see that..with AMC, OLTL and GH all pulling 0.5 ratings in HH while all other soaps cancelled. It sounds like something Frons would do.....MVP anyone??

I find it funny that Maria Arena Bell has adjusted many things, but the one thing that hasn't changed is the fact that Y&R is still the Gloria Fisher Abbott Bardwell Bardwell Hour.

You forgot Baldwin... :)

Those ratings are just bad. Daytime is in biiiiiig trouble.

Like many has said ABC owns their soaps.

With CBS we have P&G and Sony making some money and CBS getting some money. I would not be surpirsed if ABC is the last to bow.

I know that NBC and Sony have reached a "tentative" agreement on renewing DAYS for another year (through March 2010), but no contracts have been signed. The hold-up is supposedly about the cost for leasing the show (NBC no doubt wants to pay less than what Sony wants). With these recent ratings for DAYS, I wouldn't be surprised if NBC just bowed out of negotiations and canceled it. Ben Silverman was the show's savior (ex-NBC programming chief Kevin Reilly had planned to cancel it) when he showed up at NBC, but I think the only reason he wanted to renew it is because he hates Kevin Reilly, lol.

I'll co-sign everythign on here.

Even if they sign the contract, I'm SURE they have an out after the first year. it's never THAT iron clad. They can pick it up, and then cancel it next March if the numbers don't rise again.
