Curtis' involvement with porn happened prior to his return to Corinth during the show's first weeks in July 1983. When Curtis came home, Cabot alluded to him getting in trouble, but not specifically stating what he had done. Before Clayton Alden's family spent all that time in Maine, they were originally living in overseas. When Gwyneth returned, there was some mystery involving one of her lovers, Jacques, who had been murdered or had supposedly killed Clay for her. I never really understood the who backstory, but anyway the Aldens lived in Europe.

When the show began to switch gears in 1984, Burnell's department store, a property belonging to the Aldens and AE, was at the center of the business conflict. Shana and Ann fought over whether or not to sell off this division. Rita Mae Bristow's niece, Colby Cantrell, arrived in Corinth to work as a buyer for Burnell's and fell in love with Curtis Alden. Lorna Forbes hoped to catapult her modelling career as becoming the spokesperson for Burnell's, but she lost that position to Sasha Hale.

Sasha was tied to several characters. When she was in Europe, she had been in a pornographic film, which had been financed by Curtis Alden. I think Curtis was a bit mislead about the nature of the film, but he felt guilty anyway and didn't want Colby to find out about his involvement with Sasha and the film. Also, while in Europe, Sasha had known one of the victims of Jonathan Maitlane, the serial killer husband of Edy Donovan. Sasha could identify Jonathan as the murderer and Jonathan tried to kill her, but she escaped. Eventually, Sasha faded from the story as the show began to shift its business intrigue from Burnell's to Amourelle.

Sasha was probably around from September until late November / early December 1984.

Replacing Hannah with Steffi was a smart move in the long haul and, despite the contrivance, the conception of Tyler would allow for the show to continue to keep these characters interacting with one another for the show's final years.

Dante was part of the backstory Guza / Taggert created for Curtis / Tess / Buck for when the characters were introduced in the spring of 1993. While living in Kuwait, Tess had been married to a bad man and Curtis had managed to help her escape from her bad marriage with the help of Buck, a pilot. There was some mention of one of the two men having killed the husband and both seemed romantically interested in Tess. When Dante arrived, I believe Nixon was writing as it was announced in a November SOD she had taken over from Millee Taggert.

Originally, it was announced there were no plans to recast Curtis when Michael Lord was fired. Curtis torched Pins and left town. Later, it was revealed he was captured by Dante.

The clip is from the time Gilbert was impersonating Jeremy. I cannot remember how Curtis ended up in Dunellyn. This would be after he led Trucker to believe Trisha was alive (she was, but Curtis didn't really know this) and caused the plane crash that killed Janie and caused Dinahlee to lose the baby she was carrying. Laurie McCarthy / Addie Walsh would be writing and I believe Jo Ann Emmerich was producing or however it was who was there before Jean Daddario Burke.

It's kind of odd to me that Dinah Lee became such an important character, and for several years seemed to be a central heroine. I wonder if the show was just thrilled a new character caught on with viewers and kept writing for her. In a 1994 ad for ABC Daytime, which has a few short Loving moments, they use her face for the profile, essentially saying she was the face of the show.

How long did he last in the role anyway? Was he the last Curtis befre the original returned? I don't remember other Curtis' actually. Kinda funny he feels bad for Burke Moses who a few months later he got to replace Peter Gallagher in Guys and Dolls and became a MASSIVE musical theatre name--he still is, so I doubt he felt too bad...

I actually suspect that's what it was, at first it seemed like the focus was more on sister Hannah although both of them did go, not ALL too long after their intro, to stay with Myrtle at Pine Valley (which led to the Carter crossover) so I guess she caught on early.

    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
    • It’s not about a lack of faith and trust in MVJ, it’s about a a lack of faith and trust in Ron Carlivati, who I think can be very sneaky and manipulative when he wants to be.  And, all that “He’s just a breakdown writer” talk never changed my mind about anything, because at Days, it was “just a breakdown writer” that gave us some of the worst episodes I’ve ever seen.

    • I think they’re desperately trying to cover his awful tattoos. But anyway them being unable to style short kings properly has been a major pet peeve of mine for a while now.  I honestly don’t understand what some people expect from actors to even begin considering them for recognition. Let’s be real—awards mostly mean that an actor is respected by their peers and has some level of cultural relevance. Actual judgment on the acting itself? That’s often secondary—highly subjective and shaped by the times. I completely agree on both points. If you’re an actor or a dancer you shouldn’t get any tattoos (sorry not sorry). Tomas’ tattoos are ugly too. And regarding the couples- you’re completely right. These writers are unable to write romance.   Further comments: - Kat cannot be this dumb to keep tampering with evidence over and over again. And I’m officially not a fan of the actress—every time she’s in a scene with Leslie, she doesn’t seem intimidated at all. She plays it like comic relief, which is just too much, especially when paired with Leslie’s histrionics and over-the-top antics. Leslie is older, dangerous, and has literally been portrayed as homicidal—Kat should be at least a little scared. • I also didn’t like Kat playing damsel in distress with the hotel manager. It gave off the same weird energy as Dani with the cop. I would’ve much preferred the version Paul Raven suggested, with her sneaking in through housekeeping. • And yes, Dani again accused Hayley of faking the pregnancy—this time even specifying she might be using a pillow under her shirt. (No fake miscarriage being mentioned) I stand by my take: this is ridiculous writing. No one in the real world—except us, the chronically online soap watchers—would even think of such a conspiracy theory. Haley is no Beyoncé. • What in the world was Chelsea wearing in her hair the other day? And this whole thing with Madison is beyond cringe. Chelsea’s coming off as needy and toxic—basically like every other Dupree. • I’m glad the casino storyline is moving forward, but it’s still boring as hell. Honestly, I’d be so here for a plot twist where Vanessa and Doug take Joey out. • The direction and editing lately have been rough. Abrupt cuts, weird pacing… something just feels off overall. There’s a strange uneasiness to how it’s all coming together. • And finally: Tomas is too much of a saint. Where are the messy sluts when you need them? (Vanessa doesn’t count.)
