Am I the only one who thinks Ava Lazar is GREAT and so hot as Santana Andrade and she doesn't have anything to do with the needy and weak character that played Gina Gallego?

Ava is so sexy and strong as Santana.

Anyone knows if she left the show or was fired?

Ava Lazar was fired (she confirmed that in an interview on the French/English SB site run by fan Nicolas). Along with getting rid of Dane Witherspoon, that was the other stupid casting move the Dobsons made in 1984.

Hi, could you give me the link to that interview? It would be great to read it

Thanks for the link.

It was a great and unusual interview.

I agree about what she says about Santana. I wish she would have stayed. I wonder how different would have been Santana's arc if she played the role.

Regarding the storyline of Brandon, I am 100 team Santana when Ava Lazar played the role.

But with Gina Gallego, I am 100 team Gina Capwell because I cannot stand Santana's character.

It's all in the recasts - when Ava Lazar and Linda Gibboney were on the show, Santana was the strong one and Gina was weak. When Gina Gallego and Robin Mattson played the roles, Gina was strong and Santana was weak. While Gina Gallego seems like an absolute sweetheart from the interviews I've read with her, I just didn't like the character. However, I believe that had more to do with the writing than GG's portrayal.

The wonderful Christopher Norris!! My mom was a viewer of Trapper John, M.D. and remembers her well from that show, but was not aware that she had done soaps (CN also originated the role of Penny Davis on The Doctors).
